Abstract

The present invention proposes a method for transmitting a broadcast signal. The method for transmitting a broadcast signal according to the present invention proposes a system capable of supporting future broadcast services in an environment supporting future hybrid broadcasting using terrestrial broadcast networks and the Internet. In addition, the present invention proposes efficient signaling methods for both terrestrial broadcast networks and the Internet in an environment supporting future hybrid broadcasting.

Claims

1. A method for transmitting broadcast signals, comprising:

generating a plurality of input packets including broadcast data;

generating at least one link layer packet using the plurality of input packets, a header of the link layer packet including a base header including packet type information and payload configuration information, the packet type information indicating a type of an input packet included in a payload of the link layer packet, the payload configuration information indicating a configuration of the payload of the link layer packet;

generating a broadcast signal using the link layer packet; and

transmitting the broadcast signal.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the base header further includes first length information indicating the length of the payload.

3. The method according to claim 2, wherein the payload includes a single whole input packet from among the input packets, and the base header further includes header mode information indicating whether the header of the link layer packet further includes an additional header.

4. The method according to claim 3, wherein the additional header includes second length information,

wherein the second length information is connected with the first length information so as to indicate the total length of the payload including the single whole input packet.

5. The method according to claim 3, wherein the additional header further includes sub stream flag information indicating whether the link layer packet includes sub stream ID information.

6. The method according to claim 2, wherein the payload includes the plurality of input packets or segments of the single input packet, and the base header further includes information indicating whether the payload includes the plurality of input packets or the segments.

7. The method according to claim 1, wherein the generating of the link layer packet comprises;

compressing headers of the input packets;

extracting context information from at least one of the compressed input packets; and

generating the at least one link layer packet by encapsulating the context information and the compressed input packets.

8. The method according to claim 7, wherein the at least one link layer packet including the context information is transmitted separately from the compressed input packets.

9. The method according to claim 7, wherein the at least one link layer packet including the context information is transmitted through a physical path for signaling.

10. The method according to claim 1, wherein the input packets are Internet protocol (IP) packets, compressed IP packets or transport stream (TS) packets.

11. An apparatus for transmitting broadcast signals, comprising:

a first module for generating a plurality of input packets including broadcast data;

a second module for generating at least one link layer packet using the plurality of input packets, a header of the link layer packet including a base header including packet type information and payload configuration information, the packet type information indicating a type of an input packet included in a payload of the link layer packet, the payload configuration information indicating a configuration of the payload of the link layer packet;

a third module for generating a broadcast signal using the link layer packet; and

a fourth module for transmitting the broadcast signal.

12. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein the base header further includes first length information indicating the length of the payload.

13. The apparatus according to claim 12, wherein the payload includes a single whole input packet from among the input packets, and the base header further includes header mode information indicating whether the header of the link layer packet further includes an additional header.

14. The apparatus according to claim 13, wherein the additional header includes second length information,

wherein the second length information is connected with the first length information so as to indicate the total length of the payload including the single whole input packet.

15. The apparatus according to claim 13, wherein the additional header further includes sub stream flag information indicating whether the link layer packet includes sub stream ID information.

16. The apparatus according to claim 12, wherein the payload includes the plurality of input packets or segments of the single input packet, and the base header further includes information indicating whether the payload includes the plurality of input packets or the segments.

17. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein the second module compresses headers of the input packets, extracts context information from at least one of the compressed input packets and generate the at least one link layer packet by encapsulating the context information and the compressed input packets.

18. The apparatus according to claim 17, wherein the at least one link layer packet including the context information is transmitted separately from the compressed input packets.

19. The apparatus according to claim 17, wherein the at least one link layer packet including the context information is transmitted through a physical path for signaling.

20. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein the input packets are IP packets, compressed IP packets or TS packets.
