Abstract

Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to ephemeral feedback instances. According to one aspect of the concepts and technologies disclosed herein, a policy engine can receive data and a policy request from a policy requestor. The policy engine also can determine whether a policy is available to satisfy the policy request. If the policy engine determines that a policy is available to satisfy the policy request, the policy engine can retrieve, from a policy repository, the policy to satisfy the request and can instruct one or more policy enforcement points to enforce the policy. If the policy engine determines that a policy is not available to satisfy the policy request, the policy engine can perform a feedback instance method to satisfy the policy request.

Claims

1. A policy engine, comprising:

a processing unit; and

a memory unit that stores instructions that, when executed by the processing unit, cause the processing unit to perform operations comprising

receiving data,

receiving a policy request from a policy requestor,

determining whether a policy is available to satisfy the policy request,

if a policy is available to satisfy the policy request,

retrieving, from a policy repository, the policy to satisfy the policy request, and

instructing a policy enforcement point to enforce the policy, and

if a policy is not available to satisfy the policy request,

performing a feedback instance method to satisfy the policy request.

2. The policy engine of claim 1, wherein performing the feedback instance method to satisfy the policy request comprises instructing a system to modify an existing feedback instance to satisfy the policy request.

3. The policy engine of claim 1, wherein performing the feedback instance method to satisfy the policy request comprises instructing a system to escalate the policy request to an existing feedback instance satisfy the policy request.

4. The policy engine of claim 1, wherein performing the feedback instance method to satisfy the policy request comprises instructing a system to create a new feedback instance to satisfy the policy request.

5. The policy engine of claim 1, wherein performing the feedback instance method to satisfy the policy request comprises instructing a first feedback instance to consult with a second feedback instance to satisfy the policy request.

6. The policy engine of claim 1, wherein performing the feedback instance method to satisfy the policy request comprises instructing a system to coordinate a solution to satisfy the policy request among multiple feedback instances.

7. The policy engine of claim 1, wherein the data comprises event data, operational inquiry data, or active feedback instance monitoring data.

8. The policy engine of claim 1, wherein the policy requestor comprises a feedback instance comprising a plurality of actors.

9. A computer-readable storage medium comprising computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a processing unit of a system, cause the system to perform operations comprising:

receiving data;

receiving a policy request from a policy requestor;

determining whether a policy is available to satisfy the policy request;

if a policy is available to satisfy the policy request,

retrieving, from a policy repository, the policy to satisfy the policy request, and

instructing a policy enforcement point to enforce the policy; and

if a policy is not available to satisfy the policy request,

performing a feedback instance method to satisfy the policy request.

10. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 9, wherein performing the feedback instance method to satisfy the policy request comprises instructing a further system to modify an existing feedback instance to satisfy the policy request.

11. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 9, wherein performing the feedback instance method to satisfy the policy request comprises instructing a further system to escalate the policy request to an existing feedback instance satisfy the policy request.

12. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 9, wherein performing the feedback instance method to satisfy the policy request comprises instructing a further system to create a new feedback instance to satisfy the policy request.

13. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 9, wherein performing the feedback instance method to satisfy the policy request comprises instructing a first feedback instance to consult with a second feedback instance to satisfy the policy request.

14. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 9, wherein performing the feedback instance method to satisfy the policy request comprises instructing a further system to coordinate a solution to satisfy the policy request among multiple feedback instances.

15. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 9, wherein the data comprises event data, operational inquiry data, or active feedback instance monitoring data.

16. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 9, wherein the policy requestor comprises a feedback instance comprising a plurality of actors.

17. A method, comprising:

receiving data;

receiving a policy request from a policy requestor;

determining whether a policy is available to satisfy the policy request;

if the policy is available to satisfy the policy request,

retrieving, from a policy repository, the policy to satisfy the policy request, and

instructing a policy enforcement point to enforce the policy; and

if the policy is not available to satisfy the policy request, performing a feedback instance method to satisfy the policy request, wherein performing the feedback instance method to satisfy the request comprises

instructing a first system to modify a first existing feedback instance to satisfy the policy request,

instructing a second system to escalate the policy request to a second existing feedback instance satisfy the policy request,

instructing a third system to create a new feedback instance to satisfy the policy request,

instructing a first feedback instance to consult with a second feedback instance to satisfy the policy request, or

instructing a fourth system to coordinate a solution to satisfy the policy request among multiple feedback instances.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the data comprises event data, operational inquiry data, or active feedback instance monitoring data.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the policy requestor comprises a further feedback instance.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the policy requestor subscribes to at least a portion of the data.
