Abstract

A resource controller for managing resources in a network and arranged at a site of a first network entity is provided, wherein the resource controller comprises: a database, adapted to store resource managing related information; an interface adapted to receive a resource managing message from a second network entity at the first network entity; and a resource managing unit, wherein the resource managing unit is adapted to grant access to the stored resource managing related information on the database based on the received resource managing message.

Claims

1. A resource controller for managing resources in a network and arranged at a site of a first network entity, the resource controller comprising:

a database, adapted to store resource managing related information;

an interface adapted to receive a resource managing message from a second network entity at the first network entity; and

a resource managing unit, wherein the resource managing unit is adapted to grant access to the stored resource managing related information on the database based on the received resource managing message.

2. The resource controller according to claim 1, wherein the resource managing message or the resource managing related information include a managing policy.

3. The resource controller according to claim 1, wherein a rating function is implemented in the resource managing unit, which is adapted to evaluate information included in the resource managing message or in the resource managing related information.

4. The resource controller according to claim 1, wherein the resource managing message relates to a resource offer or to a resource request.

5. The resource controller according to claim 4, wherein the resource managing unit is adapted to determine a match between a resource offer and a resource request.

6. The resource controller according to claim 1, wherein the resource managing message includes an identifier identifying the second network entity.

7. The resource controller according to claim 1, wherein the resource managing unit is adapted to convert between different descriptions of the same resource.

8. The resource controller according to claim 1, wherein the resource is described by one out of the group consisting of:

frequency,

bandwidth,

spectrum, and

transport bandwith,

broadband wireless best effort service,

available services,

available applications,

transmission capacity,

and any combination thereof.

9. The resource controller according to claim 1, wherein the resource is a communication resource.

10. A network comprising:

at least two network entities, wherein at least one of the network entities comprises a resource controller according to claim 1.

11. Method of controlling resources of a network comprising a resource controller including a database, a resource managing unit and an interface, the method comprising:

receiving, at the resource controller of a first network entity, a resource managing message via the interface, wherein the message is coming from a second network entity;

deciding to grant access for the second network entity to resource managing related information stored in the database at the first network entity based on the received resource managing message.

12. The method according to claim 11, wherein the resource managing message includes a resource request or a resource offer.

13. The method according to claim 11 further comprising:

matching a resource offer and a resource request taking into account predetermined policies.

14. The method according to claim 11, further comprising:

sending a response message in response to the received resource managing message.

15. The method according to claim 11, wherein the resource managing message includes information about a type of resource managing action.
