Abstract

A wearable patch capable of wireless communications includes an elastic layer, an adhesive layer under the elastic layer, and a shearable electrode layer that includes: a support substrate comprising one or more openings so positioned to allow the shearable electrode layer to be sheared and elongated, and breathable, an upper electrode layer on the support substrate, and a lower electrode layer under the support substrate. The support substrate can include a via that is conductively connected to the upper electrode layer and the lower electrode layer. The lower electrode can be in contact with a user'"'"'s body and to pick up electric signals from the user'"'"'s body.

Claims

1. A wearable patch for measuring electrical signals from a user'"'"'s body, comprising:

an elastomer matrix comprising a lower surface;

a conductive circuit;

a semiconductor chip in electric connection with the conductive circuit; and

a lower electrode layer positioned at the lower surface of the elastomer matrix,

wherein the lower electrode layer is in electric connection with the conductive circuit;

a first adhesive layer on at least a portion of the lower surface of the elastomer matrix layer; and

a layer of conductive gel below the lower electrode layer, wherein least a portion of the first adhesive layer is configured to be attached to a user'"'"'s skin, wherein the layer of conductive gel is configured to be in contact with the user'"'"'s skin to form an electric connection between the lower electrode layer and the user'"'"'s skin, which allows the lower electrode layer to pick up electric signals from the user'"'"'s body.

2. The wearable patch of claim 1, wherein the first adhesive layer includes an opening that exposes the lower electrode layer, wherein the layer of conductive gel is formed on a lower surface of the lower electrode layer.

The wearable patch of claim 1, wherein the first adhesive layer is uniformly formed on the lower surface of the elastomer matrix layer and a lower surface of the lower electrode layer, wherein the layer of conductive gel is formed on portion of a lower surface of the first adhesive layer that is below the lower electrode layer, wherein the conductive gel forms the electric connection with the lower electrode layer through holes in the first adhesive layer.

4. The wearable patch of claim 1, further comprising:

a first circuit module in the elastomer matrix, wherein the first circuit module includes the conductive circuit and the semiconductor chip;

a second circuit module in the elastomer matrix, wherein the second circuit module includes the lower electrode layer; and

flexible ribbons in the elastomer matrix and comprising a connecting line configured to transmit the electrical signal from the lower electrode layer to the conductive circuit in the first circuit module.

5. The wearable patch of claim 1, further comprising:

a support substrate in the elastomer matrix, wherein the lower electrode layer is below the support substrate, wherein the semiconductor chip is positioned above the support substrate;

an upper electrode layer on the support substrate;

a via through the support substrate and that conductively connects the upper electrode layer and the lower electrode layer.

6. The wearable patch of claim 1, wherein the semiconductor chip is configured to wireless communicate with an external device in response to the electric signals from the user'"'"'s body picked up by the lower electrode.

7. The wearable patch of claim 6, wherein the conductive circuit includes an antenna circuit configured to receive or transmit wireless signals in communications with an external device.

8. The wearable patch of claim 1, further comprising:

a second adhesive layer on the elastomer matrix; and

an elastic layer on the second adhesive layer.

9. The wearable patch of claim 1, wherein the elastomer matrix includes one or more openings to allow the wearable patch to be sheared and elongated, and breathable for the user'"'"'s skin.

10. A wearable patch, comprising:

an elastic layer;

an adhesive layer under the elastic layer;

a shearable electrode layer under a portion of the adhesive layer, comprising;

a support substrate comprising one or more openings so positioned to allow the shearable electrode layer to be sheared and elongated, and breathable;

an upper electrode layer on the support substrate; and

a lower electrode layer under the support substrate and at a lower surface of the shearable electrode layer, wherein the support substrate includes a via that is conductively connected to the upper electrode layer and the lower electrode layer; and

a layer of conductive gel below the lower electrode layer, wherein the layer of conductive gel is configured to form an electric connection between the lower electrode layer and with a user'"'"'s skin, which allows the lower electrode layer to pick up electric signals from the user'"'"'s body.

11. The wearable patch of claim 10, wherein the elastic layer and the adhesive layer are wider than the shearable electrode layer.

12. The wearable patch of claim 10, wherein the elastic layer and the adhesive layer respectively include registered openings which expose an upper surface of the upper electrode layer.

13. The wearable patch of claim 10, wherein the conductive circuit includes an antenna circuit configured to receive or transmit wireless signals in communications with an external device.

14. The wearable patch of claim 13, wherein the conductive circuit is configured to receive or transmit wireless signals in communications with an external device.

15. The wearable patch of claim 13, wherein the conductive circuit is configured to wirelessly communicate with the external device based on near field communication (NFC), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or RFID wireless communication standard.

16. The wearable patch of claim 13, wherein the conductive circuit includes a semiconductor chip configured to produce electric signals to be sent to the antenna in response to the electric signals picked up from the user'"'"'s body by the lower electrode layer.
