Abstract

IoT embedded systems as well as cloud computing infrastructure may merge processor soft cores with programmable logic (FPGAs) to yield a heterogeneous hardware-software processing ecosystem through which the embedded systems and infrastructure customize and adapt their computational power to the specific application in use. The embedded systems and cloud computing infrastructure with dynamic reconfiguration will bring neuroplasticity to the interconnected space of IoT embedded systems, enabling high-performance, customized, secure-by-design cloud computing services. A cloud server of IaaS is employed to evaluate the performances and efficiencies of embedded systems according to its hardware architectures, so that the computing service allow one reconfigurable system download its hardware architecture file or bitstream into other embedded systems via the cloud server.

Claims

1. An Internet-of-Things system networking the reconfiguration data such as the bitstreams downloaded to configure the FPGA devices of an embedded system managed through computing services of reconfiguration, the system comprising:

at least one computing service transferring the hardware architecture data to the embedded system; and

at least one embedded system connecting to the server of the computing service for networking the reconfiguration bitstreams, and transferring its hardware architecture information to the server,

wherein the embedded system is adapted to alter computing architecture, digital logics and processing functions in the response to environmental stimuli and user request.

2. An Internet-of-Things system as recited in claim 1, wherein the embedded system is reconfigurable robots and drones.

3. An Internet-of-Things system as recited in claim 1, wherein the embedded system is further including:

at least one reconfigurable processor; and

another processor being networked with at least one computing service to download hardware architecture data, and storing the architecture data into memory to configure other reconfigurable processors.

4. An Internet-of-Things system as recited in claim 1, wherein the processors of FPGA device can be implemented in a cloud computing infrastructure.

5. An Internet-of-Things system as recited in claim 1, wherein the computing service is implemented in cloud computing infrastructure as a service (IaaS).

6. An Internet-of-Things system as recited in claim 1, wherein the FPGA devices includes one of field-programmable-gate-array (FPGA) and system-on-chip (SoC).

An Internet-of-Things system as recited in claim 1, wherein the computing service is capable of analyzing the performance of hardware architecture systems, tracing the performance parameters of each hardware architecture system, networking the hardware devices to search the hardware architecture having better performance among the reconfigurable hardware devices, and generating new computing hardware architecture system optimized to each reconfigurable hardware device.

8. An Internet-of-Things system as recited in claim 1, wherein the computing service is also adapted to alter its computing hardware architecture, functions and connections to reconfigurable hardware devices.

A internet-of-things system as recited in claim 3, wherein the another processor is adapted to generate reset signals initiating one of the reset functions, so that the reconfigurable processors are restarted with new computing hardware architecture retrieved from the architecture file memory storage.

10. A An Internet-of-Things system as recited in claim 9, wherein the reset function is a hardware reset toggling a power supply for the reconfigurable processors.

11. An Internet-of-Things system as recited in claim 9, wherein the reset function is a software reset returning the instruction program counter to the starting memory address so to upload the program of an operating system.
