Abstract

Aspects of the presently disclosed embodiments may include a wireless power outage lighting system comprising one or more power change detection apparatuses and one or more wireless lighting modules where the system is implemented to allow management of multiple groups in the same area such that interference may be avoided when there are multiple transmissions in the same area. A power change detection apparatus may be configured to transmit to avoid interference with another power change detection apparatus. A power change detection apparatus may also be configured through the user input method to operate different groups of wireless lighting modules such that lighting zones may be created. Multiple lighting zone allow a user to configure lighting provided by the wireless power outage lighting system based on their preference.

13. A coordinated lighting system, comprising:

at least one wireless lighting device comprising a battery, a light source, a wireless transceiver, an environmental sensor, a processor and a housing; and

a beaconing wireless transmitter device comprising a wireless transmitter and a processor;

wherein the beaconing wireless transmitter device periodically transmits one or more commands to the at least one wireless lighting device, and the at least one wireless lighting device is configured to respond to the one or more commands if the proximity of the beaconing wireless transmitter device to the at least one wireless lighting device is within a predetermined range.

14. The coordinated lighting system of claim 13, wherein the at least one wireless lighting device comprises a first plurality of wireless lighting devices, each of the first plurality of wireless lighting devices belonging to a first group, and wherein the beaconing wireless transmitter device is further configured to:

transmit a first control signal to each of the first plurality of wireless lighting devices responsive to detecting a predefined condition, the first control signal comprising at least one of an on signal, dim signal and off signal indicating a lighting action to be performed by each of the first plurality of wireless lighting devices.

The coordinated lighting system of claim 14, wherein the at least one wireless lighting device comprises a second plurality of wireless lighting devices, each of the second plurality of wireless lighting devices belonging to a second group different from the first group, and wherein the beaconing wireless transmitter device is further configured to:

transmit a second control signal to each of the second plurality of wireless lighting devices responsive to detecting the predefined condition, the second control signal comprising at least one of an on signal, dim signal and off signal indicating a lighting action to be performed by each of the second plurality of wireless lighting devices, wherein the second control signal is different from the first control signal.

16. The coordinated lighting system of claim 13, wherein the predefined condition is at least one of a detected motion, a detected proximity of an object and a change in ambient light.

17. The coordinated lighting system of claim 13, wherein the at least one wireless lighting device includes at least one of a spotlight, a ceiling light, a step light, a hallway light, a path light, a light bulb, a light fixture, a wall light, a portable light fixture, and a lighting power supply.

18. The coordinated lighting system of claim 13, wherein the beaconing wireless transmitter device is attached to at least one of an automobile, a person, a pet, a bike, a back pack, a belt clip, a smart phone case, and a flashlight.

19. The coordinated lighting system of claim 13, wherein the wireless lighting device is configured to transmit an indication to a remote device indicating whether the commands are received from the beaconing wireless transmitter device.

20. The coordinated lighting system of claim 19, wherein the indication indicates that the commands are received from the beaconing wireless transmitter device, and the indication is configured to cause an alarm or an alert to be generated.

21. The coordinated lighting system of claim 19, wherein the indication indicates that the commands are not received from the beaconing wireless transmitter device, and the indication is configured to cause an alarm or an alert to be generated.
