Abstract

At least one aspect of the disclosure includes a method for start-up of a sensor comprising the steps of performing a factory adjustment during the manufacture of the sensor to generate factory adjustment data; permanently storing of the factory adjustment data from the factory adjustment in a memory of the sensor; prior to first use of the sensor, performing an initial user adjustment to generate initial user adjustment data; and permanently storing of the initial user adjustment data from the initial user adjustment in the memory. Another aspect of the disclosure improves the status evaluation of the sensor by enable permanent access to both the factory adjustment data and the initial user adjustment.

Claims

1. A method for start-up of a sensor, comprising:

performing a first adjustment of a sensor to yield first adjustment data, the sensor including a memory;

storing the first adjustment data permanently in the memory of the sensor;

performing a second adjustment of the sensor to yield second adjustment data prior to use of the sensor; and

storing the second adjustment data permanently in the memory of the sensor.

2. The method of claim 1, the method further comprising:

confirming the second adjustment before the second adjustment data are permanently stored in the memory.

3. The method of claim 1, the method further comprising:

performing additional adjustments of the sensor to yield additional adjustment data, wherein the first adjustment data or the second adjustment data is not overwritten with the additional adjustment data.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the additional adjustment data from a previous additional adjustment is overwritten with a subsequent additional adjustment.

5. The method of claim 1, the method further comprising:

performing a status evaluation of the sensor based upon the first adjustment data.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the status evaluation is further based upon the second adjustment data.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the steps of permanently storing the first adjustment data and permanently storing the second adjustment data are performed by a computer program product.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the step of performing the status evaluation is further performed by the computer program product.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the computer program product is further adapted to store additional adjustment data and to overwrite previous additional adjustment data with subsequent additional adjustment data.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the sensor is a digital sensor.

11. A sensor comprising:

a digital sensor; and

a machine-readable data carrier, the data carrier including a memory and a computer program product, wherein the memory includes a permanent memory and a FIFO memory, and wherein the computer program product is configured to permanently store first adjustment data from a first adjustment of the sensor and to permanently store second adjustment data from a second adjustment of the sensor in the permanent memory.

12. The sensor of claim 11, wherein the computer program product is further configured to perform a status evaluation of the sensor based upon the first adjustment data and the second adjustment data.

13. The sensor of claim 12, the sensor further comprising:

an inductive interface, the inductive interface structured to transfer the first adjustment data and the second adjustment data to a superordinate unit.
