Abstract

A method for controlling, charging and positioning a UE is disclosed, which includes: a master base station sending closed subscriber group (CSG) member status of the UE in a secondary cell to a secondary base station; the master base station sending a CSG identity of the secondary cell and a PLMN identity selected for the UE that serves the UE in a cell of the secondary base station to a mobility management entity (MME); the MME validating CSG member status of the UE in the secondary cell; and the MME sending the validated CSG member status to the master base station with the present application, the UE is able to properly access to the secondary cell, and access control and member validation, charging, and positioning may be performed for the UE reasonably, which improves the user experience.

9. A method by a first base station, the method comprising:

transmitting, to a second base station, a first message for adding the second base station;

receiving, from the second base station, a second message in response to the first message;

transmitting, to a mobility management entity (MME), a third message for membership verification for a user equipment (UE); and

receiving, from the MME, a fourth message including a result of the membership verification.

10. The method of claim 9,

wherein the third message includes at least one of closed subscriber group (CSG) member status of the UE, a CSG identity (ID), a cell access mode, or a public land mobile network (PLMN) ID,

wherein the at least one of the CSG member status, the CSG ID, the cell access mode, or the PLMN ID is used for the membership verification, and

wherein the second base station includes at least one of an open access home eNB evolved nodeB (HeNB) or hybrid access HeNB.

11. The method of claim 9,

wherein the transmitting of the first message further comprises:

receiving, from the UE, at least one of closed subscriber group (CSG) member status or a CSG identity (ID), and

wherein the first message includes the CSG member status used to take membership information into account by the second base station.

12. The method of claim 9, wherein the transmitting of the third message further comprises:

performing a public land mobile network (PLMN) ID check for a plurality of PLMNs reported by the UE; and

selecting PLMN ID from the plurality of PLMNs.

13. A method by a mobility management entity (MME), the method comprising:

receiving, from a first base station, a first message to verify membership status of a user equipment (UE) for adding a second base station;

verifying the membership status of the UE using information included in the first message; and

transmitting, to the first base station, a second message including a result of the verification.

14. The method of claim 13,

wherein the first message includes at least one of closed subscriber group (CSG) member status of the UE, a CSG identity (ID), a cell access mode, or a public land mobile network (PLMN) ID, and

wherein the at least one of the CSG member status, the CSG ID, the cell access mode, or the PLMN ID is used to verify the membership status of the UE.

15. The method of claim 14,

wherein at least one of the CSG member status or the CSG ID is transmitted from the UE to the first base station,

wherein the CSG member status is transmitted from the first base station to the second base station, and

wherein the second base station includes at least one of an open access home eNB evolved nodeB (HeNB) or hybrid access HeNB.

16. A method performed by a second base station, the method comprising:

receiving, from a first base station, a first message for adding a second base station;

transmitting, to the first base station, a second message in response to the first message; and

receiving, from the first base station, a third message including a result of membership verification performed by a mobility management entity (MME).

17. The method of claim 16,

wherein at least one of closed subscriber group (CSG) member status of the UE, a CSG identity (ID), a cell access mode, or a public land mobile network (PLMN) ID transmitted from the first base station to the MME is used for the membership verification, and

wherein the second base station includes at least one of an open access home eNB evolved nodeB (HeNB) or hybrid access HeNB.

18. The method of claim 16, wherein the first message includes the CSG member status, and the closed subscriber group (CSG) member status used to take membership information into account.

19. A first base station, the first base station comprising:

a transceiver configured to transmit and receive a signal; and

a controller configured to;

transmit, to a second base station, a first message for adding the second base station,

receive, from the second base station, a second message in response to the first message,

transmit, to a mobility management entity (MME), a third message for membership verification for a user equipment (UE), and

receive, from the MME, a fourth message including a result of the membership verification.

20. The first base station of claim 19,

wherein the third message includes at least one of closed subscriber group (CSG) member status of the UE, a CSG identity (ID), a cell access mode, or a public land mobile network (PLMN) ID,

wherein the at least one of the CSG member status, the CSG ID, the cell access mode, or the PLMN ID is used for the membership verification, and

wherein the second base station includes at least one of an open access home eNB evolved nodeB (HeNB) or hybrid access HeNB.

21. The first base station of claim 19,

wherein the controller is further configured to receive, from the UE, at least one of a closed subscriber group (CSG) member status or a CSG identity (ID), and

wherein the first message includes the CSG member status used to take membership information into account by the second base station.

22. The first base station of claim 19, wherein the controller is configured to perform a PLMN ID check for a plurality of PLMNs reported by the UE, and select PLMN ID from the plurality of PLMNs.

23. A mobility management entity (MME), the MME comprising:

a transceiver configured to transmit and receive a signal; and

a controller configured to;

receive, from a first base station, a first message to verify membership status of a user equipment (UE) for adding the second base station,

verify the membership status of the UE using information included in the first message, and

transmit to the first base station, a second message including a result of the verification.

24. The MME of claim 23,

wherein the first message includes at least one of closed subscriber group (CSG) member status of the UE, a CSG identity (ID), a cell access mode, or a public land mobile network (PLMN) ID, and

wherein the at least one of the CSG member status, the CSG ID, the cell access mode, or the PLMN ID is used to verify the membership status of the UE.

25. The MME of claim 24,

wherein at least one of the CSG member status or the CSG ID is transmitted from the UE to the first base station,

wherein the CSG member status is transmitted from the first base station to the second base station, and

wherein the second base station includes at least one of an open access home eNB evolved nodeB (HeNB) or hybrid access HeNB.

26. A second base station, the second base station comprising:

a transceiver configured to transmit and receive a signal; and

a controller configured to;

receive, from a first base station, a first message for adding the second base station,

transmit, to the first base station, a second message in response to the first message, and

receive, from the first base station, a third message including a result of membership verification performed by a mobility management entity (MME).

27. The second base station of claim 26,

wherein at least one of closed subscriber group (CSG) member status of the UE, a CSG identity (ID), a cell access mode, or a public land mobile network (PLMN) ID transmitted from the first base station to the MME is used for the membership verification, and

wherein the second base station includes at least one of an open access home eNB evolved nodeB (HeNB) or hybrid access HeNB.

28. The method of claim 26, wherein the first message includes the closed subscriber group (CSG) member status used to take membership information into account.
