Abstract

A rigid elongated member with at least a longitudinal curvature and a cushion placed on the concave side of the member. An electronics module is disposed between the cushion and the rigid member and records information about rotation of the member. Data is captured, processed, and may be displayed on a computing device.

Claims

1. A device for measuring rotation of a user comprising:

a rigid elongated member having longitudinal curvature,

said rigid elongated member containing a cavity situated within the concave surface of said elongated member,

a cushion, in communication with said cavity, and

an electronics module, situated between said cushion and the convex surface of said elongated member,

wherein said electronics module is configured to capture at least one of;

acceleration, rotation, translation, and pitch data.

2. The device of claim 1 wherein said data is used to calculate the number of board rotations in a measurement session.

3. The device of claim 2 wherein said data is used to calculate a comprehensive score, wherein said comprehensive score is based on at least one of:

number of rotations, speed of said rotations, and change in pitch of board during said rotations.

4. The device of claim 3 wherein said electronics module is configured to transmit said data to a computing device.

5. The device of claim 4 wherein said data is provided to said computing device in a format that allows an application operating on said computing device to display a comprehensive score based on said data.

6. The device of claim 5 wherein said data is provided wirelessly to said computing device.

7. The device of claim 1 wherein said cavity comprises ridges dispersed longitudinally and latitudinally across said cavity.

8. The device of claim 1, said elongated member further having a latitudinal curvature.

9. The device of claim 1 wherein said cushion is comprised of neoprene foam.

10. The device of claim 1 wherein said elongated member is comprised of glass filled nylon.

11. The device of claim 8 wherein the radius of the arc of said longitudinal curvature is equivalent to the radius of the arc of said latitudinal curvature.

12. The device of claim 5 wherein said electronics module is configured to collect said data after said electronic module receives a signal from said computing device to begin recording data.

13. The device of claim 6, wherein said cavity further comprises a depression disposed at one end of said elongated member, and wherein said electronics module is positioned within said depression.

14. A method for measuring and analyzing rotation of a user comprising:

collecting data from a rigid elongated member having a longitudinal and latitudinal curvature, a cavity along the concave surface of said elongated member, a cushion in communication with said cavity, and an electronics module situated between said cushion and said cavity,

transmitting said data collected from said electronics module to a computing device,

utilizing said data to calculate a score.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein said data collected comprises at least one of acceleration, rotation, translation, and pitch data.

16. The method of claim 14, further comprising determining number of rotations of said board during a measurement session.

17. The method of claim 16 wherein said score is calculated based on the speed of rotation of said member, number of rotations of said member, and change in pitch of said member during rotation.

18. The method of claim 17 wherein said measurement session begins after receiving a command over a wireless interface to begin said measurement session.

19. A system for measuring rotation of a user comprising:

a rigid elongated member having longitudinal curvature,

said rigid elongated member containing a cavity situated within the concave surface of said elongated member,

a cushion, in communication with said cavity,

an electronics module, situated between said cushion and the convex surface of said elongated member,

wherein said electronics module is configured to capture at least one of;

acceleration, rotation, translation, or pitch data

a computer configured to receive and display information based on said data.

20. The system of claim 19, wherein said information comprises a comprehensive score based on said data.
