1. A method of controlling an endoscope comprising:
- inserting an insert part having an imaging unit at a distal end through the body;
making an imaging direction of the imaging unit variable by bending of a bending part,wherein the bending part is included in the insert part;
detecting an amount of insertion of the insert part through the body; and
determining whether the bending part is to be bent or not on the basis of operation of a direction input part depending on the amount of insertion.

Abstract
A method of controlling an endoscope includes,
- inserting an insert part having an imaging unit at a distal end through the body;
- making an imaging direction of the imaging unit variable by bending of a bending part,
- wherein the bending part is included in the insert part;
- detecting an amount of insertion of the insert part through the body; and
- determining whether the bending part is to be bent or not on the basis of operation of a direction input part depending on the amount of insertion.

9. An endoscope system comprising:
-
an insert part configured to be inserted through the body, which has an imaging unit provided at a distal end and a bending part capable of bending movement to make an imaging direction of the imaging unit variable; a control unit configured to implement an amount-of-insertion detection processing and a bending part control processing; wherein the amount-of-insertion detection processing detects an amount of insertion of the insert part through the body, and the bending part control processing is implemented on the basis of an amount of insertion detected by the amount-of-insertion detection processing to determine whether the bending part is to be bent or not on the basis of operation of a direction input part. - View Dependent Claims (10)
