Abstract

A nosebleed-attenuating apparatus including a pressure applicator configured to engage with an external bodily surface proximate an area of nasal vascularization between a nose and an upper lip; and a pressure receiver coupled to the pressure applicator, the pressure receiver configured to receive pressure; whereby an amount of the pressure is transferred to the pressure applicator for application to the external bodily surface.

Claims

1. A nosebleed-attenuating apparatus comprising:

a pressure applicator configured to engage with an external bodily surface proximate an area of nasal vascularization between a nose and an upper lip; and

a pressure receiver coupled to said pressure applicator, said pressure receiver configured to receive pressure;

wherein an amount of said pressure is transferred to said pressure applicator for application to said external bodily surface.

2. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 1, wherein said area of nasal vascularization comprises a portion of a superior labial artery.

3. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 2, wherein said portion of said superior labial artery comprises a septal branch of said superior labial artery.

4. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 3, wherein said pressure applicator is configured as a cylinder having a cylinder length disposed between opposing cylinder ends.

5. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 4, wherein a portion of a perimeter of said cylinder defines an arcuate engagement surface of said pressure applicator, said arcuate engagement surface contiguous with said perimeter of said cylinder.

6. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 4, wherein an arcuate engagement surface of said pressure applicator outwardly extends from a portion of a perimeter of said cylinder.

7. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 4, wherein said pressure applicator further comprises an aperture element disposed within said cylinder, said aperture element defining an aperture element opening which communicates between said opposing cylinder ends.

8. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 7, wherein said aperture element opening is configured to receive an absorbent element.

9. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 8, wherein said aperture element defines an aperture element opening having a generally circular cross section configured to receive said absorbent element having a corresponding generally circular cross section.

10. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 8, further comprising said absorbent element capable of receipt within said aperture element opening.

11. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 10, wherein said absorbent element is formed from washable material.

12. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 10, wherein said absorbent element is formed from disposable material.

13. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 9, wherein said pressure receiver is configured as a grippable pressure receiver capable of being gripped by a portion of a hand of a pressure generator.

14. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 13, wherein said grippable pressure receiver comprises an annular member.

15. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 14, wherein said annular member defines an annular member opening configured to receive at least one finger of said hand of said pressure generator.

16. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 15, wherein said annular member defines said annular member opening which has a generally circular cross section.

17. The nosebleed-apparatus of claim 16, wherein an annular member opening longitudinal axis of said annular member opening disposes in generally parallel relation to an aperture element opening longitudinal axis of said aperture element opening.

The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 13, wherein said grippable pressure receiver defines a receptacle having a receptacle open end disposed in opposing relation to said pressure applicator, said receptacle configured to receive at least one fingertip portion of said hand of said pressure generator.

19. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 18, wherein said grippable pressure receiver defines said receptacle which has a generally circular cross section.

20. The nosebleed-attenuating apparatus of claim 3, further comprising an elongate member disposed between said pressure applicator and said pressure receiver.
