Abstract

A packaged particulate composition having a carrier, perfume, and occlusions of gas.

Claims

17. A packaged composition comprising a plurality of particles, wherein said particles comprise:

a carrier; and

perfume;

wherein each of said particles has a density less than about 0.95 g/cm³;

wherein each of said particles has a mass between about 0.1 mg to about 5 g; and

wherein each of said particles has a maximum dimension of less than about 10 mm.

18. The packaged composition according to claim 17, wherein said particles comprise occlusions of gas.

19. The packaged composition according to claim 18, wherein each of said particles has a volume and said occlusions of gas within said particle comprise between about 0.5% to about 50% by volume of said particle.

20. The packaged composition according to claim 19, wherein said occlusions have an effective diameter between about 1 microns to about 2000 microns.

The packaged composition according to claim 19, wherein said carrier is selected from the group consisting of water soluble organic alkali metal salt, water soluble inorganic alkaline earth metal salt, water soluble organic alkaline earth metal salt, water soluble carbohydrate, water soluble silicate, water soluble urea, starch, clay, water insoluble silicate, citric acid carboxymethyl cellulose, fatty acid, fatty alcohol, glyceryl diester of hydrogenated tallow, glycerol, polyethylene glycol, and combinations thereof.

22. The packaged composition according to claim 21, wherein said particles comprise:

from about 0.1% to about 20% by weight of said particles of perfume; and

from about 0.1% to about 20% by weight of said particles of unencapsulated perfume.

23. The packaged composition according to claim 22, wherein said carrier is polyethylene glycol having a weight average molecular weight from about 2000 to about 13000.

24. The packaged composition according to claim 21, wherein said particles comprise from about 0.1% to about 6% by weight of said particles of perfume.

25. The packaged composition according to claim 24, wherein said perfume comprises encapsulated perfume.

26. The packaged composition according to claim 17, wherein said particles have a Dissolving Head-Space Count greater than zero at about ninety seconds.

27. A process for treating laundry comprising the step of dosing to a laundry washing machine or a laundry wash basin from about 13 g to about 27 g of particles, said particles comprising:

a carrier; and

perfume; and

wherein each of said particles has a density less than about 0.95 g/cm³;

wherein each of said particles has a mass between about 0.1 mg to about 5 g; and

wherein each of said particles has a maximum dimension of less than about 10 mm.

28. The process for treating laundry according to claim 27, wherein said particles comprise occlusions of gas.

29. The process for treating laundry according to claim 28, wherein each of said particles has a volume and said occlusions of gas within said particle comprise between about 0.5% to about 50% by volume of said particle.

30. The process for treating laundry according to claim 29, wherein said occlusions have an effective diameter between about 1 micron to about 2000 microns.

The process for treating laundry according to claim 30, wherein said carrier is selected from the group consisting of water soluble organic alkali metal salt, water soluble inorganic alkaline earth metal salt, water soluble organic alkaline earth metal salt, water soluble carbohydrate, water soluble silicate, water soluble urea, starch, clay, water insoluble silicate, citric acid carboxymethyl cellulose, fatty acid, fatty alcohol, glyceryl diester of hydrogenated tallow, glycerol, polyethylene glycol, and combinations thereof.

32. The process for treating laundry according to claim 31, wherein said particles comprise from about 40% to about 99% by weight of said particles of said carrier.

33. The process for treating laundry according to claim 32, wherein said particles comprise:

from about 0.1% to about 20% by weight of said particles of perfume; and

from about 0.1% to about 20% by weight of said particles of unencapsulated perfume.

34. The process for treating laundry according to claim 33, wherein said carrier is polyethylene glycol having a weight average molecular weight from about 2000 to about 13000.

35. The process for treating laundry according to claim 34, wherein said particles comprise an antioxidant.

36. A packaged composition comprising a plurality of particles, wherein said particles comprise:

a carrier;

perfume;

occlusions of gas; and

an antioxidant;

wherein each of said particles has a density less than about 0.95 g/cm³;

wherein each of said particles has a mass between about 0.1 mg to about 5 g; and

wherein each of said particles has a maximum dimension of less than about 10 mm;

wherein said particles comprise from about 40% to about 99% by weight of said particles of said carrier;

wherein each of said particles has a volume and said occlusions of gas within said particle comprise between about 0.5% to about 50% by volume of said particle; and

wherein said particles comprise from about 0.1% to about 20% by weight of said particles of perfume.
