Abstract

A method of operating a transmitting apparatus in a multimedia system is provided. The method includes transmitting a data unit of a multimedia service including event information related to an event, wherein the event includes notification to an application, the notification indicating that an action is to be taken.

Claims

1. A method of operating a transmitting apparatus in a multimedia system, the method comprising:

transmitting a data unit of a multimedia service including event information related to an event,

wherein the event includes notification to an application, the notification indicating that an action is to be taken.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the event information includes at least one of an identifier (ID) of the event, start time of the event, duration of the event, and event data of the event.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the start time of the event includes difference between time that the media unit is presented and time that the event is applied in the media unit.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein the event data includes the action.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein, if the multimedia service is based on a moving picture experts group (MPEG) media transport (MMT) scheme, the data unit includes a media processing unit (MPU).

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the event information is included in an event information box included in the MPU.

7. A method of operating a transmitting apparatus in a multimedia system, the method comprising:

transmitting first information indicating presence of a data unit of a multimedia service including event information related to an event,

wherein the event includes notification to an application, the notification indicating that an action is to be taken.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the message further includes second information indicating that the message includes the first information.

9. The method of claim 7, wherein the event information includes at least one of an identifier (ID) of the event, start time of the event, duration of the event, and event data of the event.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the start time of the event includes difference between time that the media unit is presented and time that the event is applied in the media unit.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein the event data includes the action.

12. The method of claim 7, wherein, if the multimedia service is based on a moving picture experts group (MPEG) media transport (MMT) scheme, the data unit includes a media processing unit.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the event information is included in an event information box included in the MPU.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein the message is an MMT package table (MPT) message, and the first information is asset-level information.

15. A transmitting apparatus in a multimedia system, the transmitting apparatus comprising:

a transmitter configured to transmit a data unit of a multimedia service including event information related to an event,

wherein the event includes notification to an application, the notification indicating that an action is to be taken.

16. The transmitting apparatus of claim 15, wherein the event information includes at least one of an identifier (ID) of the event, start time of the event, duration of the event, and event data of the event.

17. The transmitting apparatus of claim 16, wherein the start time of the event includes difference between time that the media unit is presented and time that the event is applied in the media unit.

18. The transmitting apparatus of claim 16, wherein the event data includes the action.

19. The transmitting apparatus of claim 15, wherein, if the multimedia service is based on a moving picture experts group (MPEG) media transport (MMT) scheme, the data unit includes a media processing unit (MPU).

20. The transmitting apparatus of claim 19, wherein the event information is included in an event information box included in the MPU.
