Abstract

Somecast/anycast service may function at the service layer and include service nodes/groups selection and post-selection processing. Somecast/anycast information may be used for identifying different scenarios of anycast/somecast, facilitating service nodes selection, and handling retransmission.

Claims

1. An apparatus comprising:

a processor; and

a memory coupled with the processor, the memory comprising executable instructions that when executed by the processor cause the processor to effectuate operations comprising;

receiving a first request message comprising instructions to somecast using a service layer;

determining target nodes based on selection criteria in the request message; and

sending a second request message to the target nodes to perform a desired operation.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first request message comprises a number of service nodes.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first request message comprises an indication of group-based or non-group based somecast.

4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first request message comprises a group identifier for a group-based somecast.

5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the selection criteria comprises a type of service node.

6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the selection criteria comprises a type of networking protocol used with a service node.

7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first request message comprises an indication of a number range of an amount of service nodes that can be used to satisfy the first request.

8. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first request message comprises an indication of anycast.

9. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first request message comprises a retransmission option.

10. A computer readable storage medium comprising computer executable instructions that when executed by a computing device cause said computing device to effectuate operations comprising:

receiving a first request message comprising instructions to somecast within a service layer platform;

determining target nodes based on selection criteria in the request message; and

sending a second request message to the target nodes to perform a desired operation.

11. The computer readable storage medium of claim 10, wherein the first request message comprises a number of service nodes.

12. The computer readable storage medium of claim 10, wherein the first request message comprises an indication of group-based or non-group based somecast.

13. The computer readable storage medium of claim 10, wherein the first request message comprises a group identifier for a group-based somecast.

14. The computer readable storage medium of claim 10, wherein the selection criteria comprises a type of service node.

15. The computer readable storage medium of claim 10, wherein the selection criteria comprises a type of networking protocol used with a service node.

16. The computer readable storage medium of claim 10, wherein the first request message comprises an indication of a number range of an amount of service nodes that can be used to satisfy the first request.

17. A method comprising:

receiving a first request message that indicates to somecast within a service layer platform;

determining target nodes based on selection criteria in the request message; and

sending a second request message to the target nodes to perform desired operations.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the first request message comprises a number of service nodes.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein the first request message comprises an indication of group-based or non-group based somecast.

20. The method of claim 17, wherein the first request message comprises a group identifier for a group-based somecast.
