Abstract

Customized communication routing and regulation thereof are provided. The routing of an incoming communication to a device, wireless or wireline, is based on a routing preference and a presence condition of a mobile device in a home or visited wireless environment served by a confined-coverage access point (AP). The routing preference can be configured for a device that operates in the home or visited wireless environment. The confined-coverage AP can be owned or leased by a subscriber associated with the incoming call or by a third party. Provisioning of routing of incoming call based on a third-party confined-coverage AP can be event-based. Add-on services can be provisioned and configured; screening of incoming call(s) based on screening rule(s) specific to a confined-coverage AP is provided. Customized communication routing to equipment that operates in a confined-coverage area served by a third-party confined-coverage AP can be canceled.

Claims

1. A system, comprising:

a processor; and

a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising;

receiving a request to route an incoming call directed to a first device associated with a first subscriber identity;

identifying a first access point device to which the first device is connected;

determining a routing preference associated with the first subscriber identity based on the first access point device, wherein the routing preference identifies a device to which to forward the incoming call; and

initiating routing of the incoming call based on the routing preference.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the determining the routing preference further comprises determining the routing preference based on an entity identity associated with ownership of the first access point device.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the routing preference varies based on an entity identity associated with ownership of the first access point device being determined to be the first subscriber identity or a second identity different from the first subscriber identity.

4. The system of claim 3, wherein the routing preference further identifies a unique ringtone associated with the first subscriber identity and the second identity, and wherein the initiating the routing of the incoming call comprises directing the device to employ the unique ringtone based on a determination that the entity identity comprises the second identity.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise:

prior to the initiating the routing, applying a screening rule to the incoming call using a filtering service comprising determining whether the incoming call is to be blocked.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the device comprises the first device.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the device comprises a second device connected to the first access point device that is authorized to receive the incoming call.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the first device is a mobile device.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein the first device is a wireline device and wherein the determining the routing preference further comprises determining the routing preference based on an access point device to which a mobile device associated with the first subscriber identity is connected.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the determining the routing preference comprises determining a first routing preference based on the access point device being the first device and determining a second routing preference based on the access point device being a second access point device.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein the determining the first routing preference comprises determining the first routing preference based on an entity identity associated with ownership of the first access point device being determined to be the first subscriber identity or a second identity different from the first subscriber identity.

12. The system of claim 10, wherein the determining the second routing preference comprises determining the second routing preference based on an entity identity associated with ownership of the second access point device being determined to be the first subscriber identity or a second identity different from the first subscriber identity.

13. A method, comprising:

receiving, by a system comprising a processor, a request to route an incoming call directed to a subscriber device associated with a subscriber identity;

determining, by the system, a location of the subscriber device;

determining, by the system, a routing preference associated with the subscriber identity based on the location of the subscriber device, comprising;

determining a first routing preference associated with the subscriber identity based on association of a first classification with the location, wherein the first routing preference defines a first device to which to forward the incoming call; and

determining a second routing preference associated with the subscriber identity based on association of a second classification with the location, wherein the second routing preference defines a second device to which to forward the incoming call; and

initiating, by the system, routing of the incoming call based on the routing preference.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the determining the location of the subscriber device comprises determining the location based on an access point device to which the subscriber device is connected.

15. The method of claim 14, further comprising:

determining, by the system, that the location is associated with the first classification based on subscriber information associating the subscriber identity with the access point device; and

determining, by the system, that the location is associated with the second classification based on the subscriber information not associating the subscriber identity with the access point device.

16. The method of claim 13, wherein the subscriber device is a mobile device.

17. A machine-readable storage medium comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:

receiving a request to route an incoming call directed to a device associated with a subscriber identity;

determining that an access point device is connected to the device;

determining a routing preference associated with the subscriber identity, comprising;

determining a first routing preference associated with the subscriber identity based on subscriber information being determined to associate the access point device with the subscriber identity; and

determining a second routing preference associated with the subscriber identity based on the subscriber information being determined to associate the access point device with an entity identity different from the subscriber identity.

18. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 17, wherein the operations further comprise:

initiating routing of the incoming call based on the routing preference.

19. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 17, wherein the device is a first device, wherein the first routing preference identifies a second device to which to forward the incoming call, and wherein second routing preference identifies a third device to which to forward the incoming call.

20. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 17, wherein the device comprises a mobile device.
