Abstract

Methods and apparatuses for performing wireless charging are disclosed. One of the disclosed apparatuses is a wireless power transmitter which can receive charging power from a wireless power transmitter. When the wireless power transmitter detects a transition from a Stand Alone (SA) mode to a Non Stand Alone (NSA) mode, it generates a message that includes address information used to re-connect with the wireless power transmitter and transmits the message to the wireless power transmitter.

Claims

1. A wireless power receiver configured to perform wireless charging, the wireless power receiver comprising:

a power receiving unit configured to receive charging power from a wireless power transmitter;

a processor configured to detect a mode transition of the wireless power receiver from a Stand Alone (SA) mode to a Non Stand Alone (NSA) mode and generate a message including address information used to re-connect with the wireless power transmitter if the mode transition is detected; and

a communication unit configured to transmit the message to the wireless power transmitter.

2. The wireless power receiver of claim 1, wherein the message includes a Power Reception Unit (PRU) alert signal.

3. The wireless power receiver of claim 1, further comprising:

a memory configured to store the address information used to re-connect with the wireless power transmitter if the mode transition is detected.

4. The wireless power receiver of claim 1, wherein the processor re-connects with the wireless power transmitter using the address information if the mode transition is completed.

The wireless power receiver of claim 4, wherein the processor loads a communication scheme stack for communication with the wireless power transmitter from an application processor of the wireless power receiver if the mode transition is completed and re-connects with the wireless power transmitter using the address information, based on the loaded communication scheme stack.

6. The wireless power receiver of claim 1, wherein the address information used to re-connect with the wireless power transmitter includes a public address that is different from a random address in the SA mode.

7. The wireless power receiver of claim 1, wherein the address information used to re-connect with the wireless power transmitter includes a public address that is the same as a public address in the SA mode.

8. The wireless power receiver of claim 1, wherein the address information used to re-connect with the wireless power transmitter includes a random address that is the same as a random address in the SA mode.

9. The wireless power receiver of claim 1, wherein the address information used to re-connect with the wireless power transmitter includes a second random address that is different from a first random address in the SA mode.

10. A wireless power transmitter configured to perform wireless charging, the wireless power transmitter comprising:

a power transmitting unit configured to transmit charging power to a wireless power receiver;

a communication unit configured to receive, from the wireless power receiver, a message including address information used to re-connect with the wireless power receiver; and

a processor configured to reconnect with the wireless power receiver using the address information if the message is received from the wireless power receiver.

11. The wireless power transmitter of claim 10, further comprising:

a memory configured to store the address information to be used to re-connect with the wireless power receiver.

12. The wireless power transmitter of claim 10, wherein the address information used to re-connect with the wireless power transmitter includes a public address that is different from a random address in a Stand Alone (SA) mode of the wireless power receiver.

13. The wireless power transmitter of claim 10, wherein the address information used to re-connect with the wireless power transmitter includes a public address that is the same as a public address in a Stand Alone (SA) mode of the wireless power receiver.

14. The wireless power transmitter of claim 10, wherein the address information used to re-connect with the wireless power transmitter includes a random address that is the same as a random address in a Stand Alone (SA) mode of the wireless power receiver.

15. The wireless power transmitter of claim 10, wherein the address information used to re-connect with the wireless power transmitter includes a second random address that is different from a first random address in a Stand Alone (SA) mode of the wireless power receiver.
