Abstract

Provided are a method for determining cell coverage for a device-to-device (D2D) operation performed by a terminal in a wireless communication system, and a terminal using the method. The method comprises: receiving a specific signal which is repeatedly transmitted from a cell; determining whether successful detection of the specific signal is maintained for at least a specific amount of time; and declaring that the specific signal is beyond the cell coverage, when the successful detection of the specific signal is not maintained for at least the specific amount of time.

Claims

1. A cell coverage determining method for a device-to-device (D2D) operation performed by a terminal in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

receiving a specific signal that is repeatedly transmitted from a cell;

determining whether successful detection of the specific signal is maintained for at least a specific amount of time; and

declaring that the terminal is beyond the cell coverage if the successful detection of the specific signal is not maintained for at least the specific amount of time.

The method of claim 1, wherein the terminal switches a resource, which is capable of being used to perform a D2D operation, from a first resource, which is capable of being used to perform the D2D operation within the cell coverage, to a second resource, which is capable of being used to perform the D2D operation beyond the cell coverage, after the declaring.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the first resource is set by the cell, and wherein the second resource is a preset resource.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the specific signal may be a signal including a synchronization signal or system information that the cell transmits.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the terminal starts a timer if the terminal receives the specific signal.

6. The method of claim 4, wherein a time period when the timer is driven is previously set or is set by the cell.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the terminal determines that the terminal is within the cell coverage, if the successful detection of the specific signal is maintained for at least the specific amount of time.

8. A terminal comprising:

a radio frequency (RF) unit for transmitting/receiving a radio signal; and

a processor operatively coupled to the RF unit,

wherein the processor is configured for;

receiving a specific signal that is repeatedly transmitted from a cell;

determining whether successful detection of the specific signal is maintained for at least a specific amount of time; and

declaring that the processor is beyond the cell coverage when the successful detection of the specific signal is not maintained for at least the specific amount of time.

9. The terminal of claim 8, wherein the processor switches a resource, which is capable of being used to perform a D2D operation, from a first resource, which is capable of being used to perform the D2D operation within the cell coverage, to a second resource, which is capable of being used to perform the D2D operation beyond the cell coverage, after the declaring.

10. The terminal of claim 9, wherein the first resource is set by the cell, and wherein the second resource is a preset resource.

11. The terminal of claim 8, wherein the specific signal may be a signal including a synchronization signal or system information that the cell transmits.

12. The terminal of claim 8, wherein the processor starts a timer if the processor receives the specific signal.

13. The terminal of claim 12, wherein a time period when the timer is driven is previously set or is set by the cell.

14. The terminal of claim 8, wherein the processor determines that the processor is within the cell coverage, if the successful detection of the specific signal is maintained for at least the specific amount of time.
