Abstract

The present disclosure includes a medical monitoring hub as the center of monitoring for a monitored patient. The hub is configured to receive and process a plurality of physiological parameters associated with the patient. The hub includes advanced analytical presentation views configured to provide timely, clinically-relevant, actionable information to care providers. In certain embodiments, the monitoring hub stores and is able to replay previously presented data reflective of the patient'"'"'s condition.

Claims

1. A medical monitor configured to analyze and present indicia reflective of physiological parameters of a patient, said parameters including oxygen saturation, the monitor comprising:

a first communication port configured to receive a first signal indicative a first physiological parameter associated with the patient, said first signal responsive to light attenuated by body tissue;

a display;

a processor configured to process said received first signal and to cause a first view to be presented on at least a portion of said display, said first view adapted to present first data indicative of said first physiological parameter over a first period of time; and

a storage device configured to store said presented first data;

wherein said processor is further configured to replay said stored first data on said display.

2. The monitor of claim 1, wherein said processor is configured to cause said replayed first data to be presented for a duration that is shorter than said first period of time.

3. The monitor of claim 1, wherein said processor is configured to cause said replayed first data to be presented for a duration that is longer than said first period of time.

4. The monitor of claim 1, wherein said processor is configured to cause said replayed first data to be presented for a duration that is equal to said first period of time.

5. The monitor of claim 1, further comprising:

a second communication port configured to receive a second signal indicative of a second physiological parameter associated with said patient;

wherein said processor is further configured to process said received second signal, to cause a second view to be presented on at least a portion of said display, the view adapted to present second data indicative of said second physiological parameter over said first period of time;

wherein said storage device is further configured to store said presented second data; and

wherein said processor is further configured to synchronously replay said stored first and second data.

6. The monitor of claim 1, wherein said second data is indicative of a relationship between said first physiological parameter and said second physiological parameter.

7. The monitor of claim 6, wherein said second view is further configured to present a graph of said relationship between said physiological parameters and to identify an area in said graph in which said second data is concentrated.

8. The monitor of claim 7, wherein said second view uses a color to identify said area in which said second data is concentrated.

9. The monitor of claim 6, wherein said second view is further configured to identify a first area in said graph associated with a first concentration of said second data and a second area in said graph associated with a second concentration of said second data, wherein said first area is presented in a first color and said second area is presented in a second color.

10. The monitor of claim 6, wherein said first physiological parameter is oxygen saturation and said second physiological parameter is pulse rate.

11. The monitor of claim 6, wherein said first physiological parameter is total hemoglobin and said second physiological parameter is plethysmograph variability index.

12. The monitor of claim 6, wherein said second view comprises a heat map analytical presentation view.

13. The monitor of claim 1, wherein said first view comprises a box-and-whisker analytical presentation view.

14. The monitor of claim 1, wherein said first view comprises an index analytical presentation view.

15. The monitor of claim 1, wherein said first view comprises a distribution analytical presentation view.

16. The monitor of claim 1, wherein said first view comprises a histogram analytical presentation view.

17. The monitor of claim 1, wherein said first view comprises a gauge-histogram analytical presentation view.

18. The monitor of claim 1, wherein said first view comprises a gauge-histogram analytical presentation view further comprising a digital indicator.

19. The monitor of claim 1, wherein said first view comprises an analog gauge showing measurement data, said analog gauge comprising an arc and a dial marker.

20. The monitor of claim 1, wherein said communication port comprises a serial port.

21. The monitor of claim 1, wherein said hub communicates with one or more medical sensors.

22. A method of monitoring physiological parameters of a patient, the method comprising:

receiving, at a first communication port from a first physiological sensor, a first signal indicative a first physiological parameter associated with said patient;

processing, with a processor, said received first signal to generate first data indicative of said first physiological parameter over a first period of time;

causing, with said processor, said first data to be presented on at least a portion of a display;

storing, in a data storage device, said presented first data; and

replaying, on said display, said stored first data.

23. The method of claim 22, further comprising:

receiving, at a second communication port from a second physiological sensor, a second signal indicative of a second physiological parameter associated with said patient;

processing, with said processor, said received second signal to generate second data indicative of said second physiological parameter over said first period of time;

causing, with said processor, said second data to be presented on at least a portion of said display;

storing, in said data storage device, said presented second data;

and

replaying synchronously, on said display, said stored first and second data.

24. The method of claim 22, comprising causing said replayed first data to be presented for a duration that is shorter than said first period of time.

25. The method of claim 22, comprising causing said replayed first data to be presented for a duration that is longer than said first period of time.

26. The method of claim 22, comprising causing said replayed first data to be presented for a duration that is equal to said first period of time.

27. The method of claim 23, wherein the causing said second data to be presented further comprises:

processing, with said processor, said received first and second signals to generate second data indicative of a relationship between said first physiological parameter and said second physiological parameter;

presenting a graph indicative of said second data; and

identifying, on said graph, an area in which said second data is concentrated.

28. The method of claim 27, further comprising identifying a first area in said graph associated with a first concentration of said second data and a second area in said graph associated with a second concentration of said second data, wherein said first area is presented in a first color and said second area is presented in a second color.

29. The method of claim 22, wherein causing said first data to be presented further comprises:

presenting, on said display, a first whisker having an upper end and an opposite end, said upper end being indicative of an upper point of a data range of said first data;

presenting, on said display, a second whisker having a lower end and an opposite end, said lower end being indicative of a lower point of said data range; and

presenting, on said display, between said first and second whiskers, a box having an upper edge, a median line, and a lower edge, said upper edge connected to said opposite end of said first whisker and indicative of a first separation line between a first quartile and a second quartile of said data range, said lower edge connected to said opposite end of said second whisker and indicative of a second separation line between a third quartile and a fourth quartile of said data range, and said median line indicative of a third separation line between said second and third quartiles of said data range.

30. The method of claim 22, wherein causing said first data to be presented comprises presenting, on said display, a measurement marker, a value bar, and a threshold line, wherein the value bar is divided into a plurality of regions, and wherein the threshold line is associated with a boundary between two adjacent regions.

31. The method of claim 22, wherein causing said first data to be presented further comprises presenting, on said display, a distribution graph indicative of said first data.

32. The method of claim 22, wherein causing said first data to be presented further comprises presenting, on said display, a histogram graph indicative of said first data.

33. The method of claim 22, wherein causing said first data to be presented further comprises presenting, on said display, a gauge-histogram indicative of said first data.
