THREADED KNOTLESS ANCHOR
First Claim
1. A method for knotlessly securing suture in a bone tunnel comprising the steps of:
- securing a suture to a tissue to be fixated by a suture anchor, wherein the suture anchor is to be received in a bone hole;
preloading a proximal threaded component of an anchor onto a driver, the proximal component of the anchor defining a pitch and containing a lumen comprising a proximal drive area and a distal non-drive area, the proximal drive area configured to receive a distal portion of a cannulated rotatable and translatable drive shaft;
preloading a distal component of said anchor onto an actuator shaft, the actuator shaft being coaxially disposed through the cannulation of the rotatable and translatable drive shaft, the actuator shaft being located in a first axial position;
passing the suture through an eyelet of the distal component of the anchor, the distal component of the anchor attached to the actuator shaft via a frangible connection;
inserting the distal component of the anchor into the bone hole;
tensioning the suture to bring the tissue into apposition with bone and then attaching the suture to a proximal portion of the driver handle;
inserting the proximal component of the anchor into the bone hole by rotating the driver while holding another portion of the driver steady, the driver translating at a pitch matched with the pitch of the proximal component of the anchor, the driver also containing an indicator;
confirming the placement of the proximal component of the anchor relative to the distal component of the anchor by viewing an indicator on the driver handle;
providing a trigger device pivotably attached to the driver handle, wherein the trigger device is selectably pivotable about at least one of a first pivot axis and a second pivot axis defined by the driver handle; and
pivoting the trigger device about at least one of a first pivot axis and a second pivot axis to translate the actuator shaft to a second position to compress the suture at the distal end of the proximal anchor and to lock the distal anchor to the proximal anchor.

Abstract
A method for knotlessly securing suture in a bone tunnel including securing a suture to a tissue to be fixated by a suture anchor; preloading a proximal threaded component of an anchor onto a drive shaft; preloading a distal component of the anchor onto an actuator shaft, passing the suture through an eyelet of the distal component of the anchor, inserting the distal component of the anchor and then the proximal component of the anchor into the bone hole; confirming the placement of the proximal component of the anchor relative to the distal component of the anchor by viewing an indicator on the driver handle; and pivoting a trigger device about a pivot axis to translate the actuator shaft to a second position to compress the suture at the distal end of the proximal anchor and to lock the distal anchor to the proximal anchor.
