Abstract

An energy receiver including a power receiver coil configured to wirelessly receive power transmitted from a power transmitter; a detection section configured to detect a foreign object; and a power storage section configured to supply power to the detection section during detection of the foreign object.

Claims

1. A control device comprising:

a power storage device to store power received wirelessly from a power transmitter by power receiving circuitry;

memory to store a quality factor threshold; and

a control section configured to receive power from the power storage device and to send the quality factor threshold to the power transmitter.

2. The control device of claim 1, wherein the power storage device makes power available to the control section when wireless power transmission to the power receiving circuitry is suspended.

3. The control device of claim 1, further comprising:

a first switch section to switch between supply and suspension of supply of the power received by the power receiving circuitry to the power storage device; and

a second switch section between the power storage device and a load to connect and disconnect the power storage device and the load from each other,

wherein, the first switch section switches to supply of the power to the power storage device when the second switch section disconnects the power storage device and the load from each other.

4. A detection device comprising:

power transmission circuitry including a power transmission coil configured to wirelessly transmit power to a power receiver;

detection circuitry comprising Q factor detection circuitry; and

test signal generation circuitry capable of generating test signal,

wherein,

the detection circuitry is configured to determine a quality factor value for the power transmission circuitry using the Q factor detection circuitry and the test signal and to compare the determined quality factor value with a threshold quality factor value to detect presence of a foreign object, and

when the foreign object is detected, transmission of power by the power transmission circuitry is configured stopped.

5. The detection device of claim 4, further comprising a communications unit connected to the detection circuitry and configured to receive the threshold quality factor value from the power receiver.
