1. A gaming system comprising:
- at least one processor;
at least one display device;
at least one input device; and
at least one memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to operate with the at least one display device and the at least one input device to;
(a) for a play of a card game, randomly determine an initial hand of a plurality of cards from a set of cards and display the initial hand;
(b) determine whether the initial hand satisfies an additional award opportunity condition associated with an additional award opportunity;
(c) after determining that the initial hand satisfies the additional award opportunity condition, initiate the additional award opportunity, randomly determine and display an outcome of the additional award opportunity, and determine and provide any bonus award associated with the outcome of the additional award opportunity;
(d) finalize the initial hand responsive to at least one player input; and
(e) determine, display, and provide any primary award associated with that finalized hand.

Abstract
Various embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a gaming system and method providing an additional award opportunity triggerable based on the initially dealt cards of a card game. Generally, for a play of the card game, the gaming system randomly determines and displays an initial hand of cards. If the initial hand of cards satisfies an additional award opportunity condition, the gaming system provides an additional award opportunity by randomly determining and providing one of a plurality of bonus awards.

11. A method of operating a gaming system, the method comprising:
-
(a) for a play of a card game, randomly determining, by at least one processor, an initial hand of a plurality of cards from a set of cards and display the initial hand; (b) determining, by the at least one processor, whether the initial hand satisfies an additional award opportunity condition associated with an additional award opportunity; (c) after determining that the initial hand satisfies the additional award opportunity condition, initiating, by the at least one processor, the additional award opportunity, randomly determining, by the at least one processor, and displaying, by at least one display device, an outcome of the additional award opportunity, and determining, by the at least one processor, and providing any bonus award associated with the outcome of the additional award opportunity; (d) finalizing, by the at least one processor, the initial hand responsive to at least one player input; and (e) determining, by the at least one processor, displaying, by the at least one display device, and providing any primary award associated with that finalized hand. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19)
