Abstract

A mobile computing device is operated to receive a trigger at a first instance. The trigger may be associated with a predefined condition or event or action. The mobile computing device may detect the predefined condition or event at a second instance. In response to detecting the predefined condition or event, a notification is activated on the mobile computing device that is based on the trigger.

Claims

1. A method for maintaining data, the method being implemented by one or more processors and comprising:

updating a network application data set when a corresponding local application data set is updated on a device;

determining one or more other devices that each include a respective corresponding local application data set; and

sending a push notification to each of the one or more other devices to trigger each of the one or more other devices to update the corresponding application data set of that device.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein sending the push notification includes sending a communication to each of the one or more other devices, to cause each of the one or more other devices to initiate a synchronization operation with the network application data set.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein sending the push notification includes determining a set of operations for execution on each of the one or more devices in order to update the respective corresponding local application data set of that device.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein sending the push notification includes identifying each operation in the set of operations for each of the one or more devices.

5. The method of claim 3, wherein sending the push notification includes identifying a sequence in which each operation in the set of operations is performed.

6. The method of claim 3, wherein sending the push notification includes identifying a configuration parameter for use when each of the one or more devices performs the set of operations.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein sending the push notification to each of the one or more other devices includes providing instructions with the respective push notifications to cause each of the one or more other devices to independently perform a set of operations to update the application data set on that device.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein at least one of the other devices is triggered to retrieve data for synchronizing the application data set.

9. A method for enabling secure communications between computing systems, the method comprising:

as between at least a first computer system and a second computer system, receiving a request from the second computer system for authentication of the first computer system in connection with a communication exchange between the first and second computer system;

based on the request from the second computer system, identifying a credential for use by the first computer system in the communication exchange; and

sending a push notification to the first computer system to trigger the first computer system to use the credential in the communication exchange.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the credential corresponds to a certificate.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein the credential corresponds to a security code or password.

12. The method of claim 9, wherein the second computer system corresponds to a server, and wherein the first computer system corresponds to a client computer.

13. The method of claim 9, wherein a content of the push notification is encrypted.

14. A non-transitory computer readable medium that stores instructions, which when executed by one or more processors, performs operations that include:

updating a network application data set when a corresponding local application data set is updated on a device;

determining one or more other devices that each include a respective corresponding local application data set; and

sending a push notification to each of the one or more other devices to trigger each of the one or more other devices to update the corresponding application data set of that device.

15. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 14, wherein sending the push notification includes sending a communication that causes each of the one or more other devices to initiate a synchronization operation with the network application data set.

16. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 14, wherein sending the push notification includes determining a set of operations for execution on each of the one or more devices in order to update the respective corresponding local application data set of that device.

17. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 14, wherein sending the push notification includes identifying each operation in the set of operations for each of the one or more devices.

18. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 14, wherein sending the push notification includes identifying a sequence in which each operation in the set of operations is performed.

19. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 14, wherein sending the push notification includes identifying a configuration parameter for use when each of the one or more devices performs the set of operations.

20. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 14, wherein sending the push notification to each of the one or more other devices includes providing instructions with the respective push notifications to cause each of the one or more other devices to independently perform a set of operations to update the application data set on that device.
