1. A display device comprising:
- a first drive electrode and a second drive electrode arranged in a display area;
a touch detection electrode opposed to the first and second drive electrodes;
a first wiring that is arranged in a peripheral area positioned outside of the display area and is configured to supply an alternating-current signal;
a first selection switch connected between the first drive electrode and the first wiring, and a second selection switch connected between the second drive electrode and the first wiring; and
a drive electrode scanning unit configured to control the first and second selection switches,wherein the drive electrode scanning unit includes a first sift register configured to control the first selection switch, a second sift register configured to control the second selection switch, and a third shift register connected to the first shift register and second sift register.

A display device with a touch detecting function includes wiring for touch arranged in a peripheral area positioned on the outside of a display area, and a selection switch that selects one of drive electrodes to be coupled to the wiring for touch. A drive electrode scanning unit selects one of drive electrodes and includes a plurality of transfer circuits in the peripheral area. Part of the transfer circuits is a transfer circuit that performs output to the selection switch.
