Abstract

An informatics platform provides an architecture to integrate information from relevant patient information systems. The informatics platform may include: a workflow tool that can be used to prepare and review information at multi-disciplinary board meetings; a visual timeline of patient events; a search engine to search for patients with specific attributes; a graphing tool that can display disparate clinical variables in a single chart; a virtual PinBoard for users to identify relevant patient information for board meetings; an image viewing application that can provide for comparison of images from different information systems; structured reporting functionality that incorporates system aggregated patient information and board recommendations; an application interface that integrates clinically relevant tools to provide patient specific references; a collaboration interface that facilitates communication of patient specific information and documents the discussion threads as independent reference points; and a default display of relevant patient information customized for each clinical specialty.

Claims

1. A server communicatively coupled to a plurality of information systems, the server comprising an informatics platform and a database, wherein:

the database is configured to aggregate and store clinical data obtained by the server from the plurality of information systems;

the informatics platform comprises at least one tool configured to automatically integrate the clinical data from the database into a corresponding functionality of the at least one tool; and

the plurality of information systems comprises two or more of an electronic medical record (EMR) system, a picture archiving and communication system (PACS), a laboratory information system (LIS), a radiology information system (RIS), a next generation sequencing (NGS) system, and a digital pathology (DP) system.

2. The server of claim 1, wherein the at least one tool is further configured to:

access clinical data related to a specific patient from the database, wherein the clinical data related to the specific patient is obtained from the plurality of information systems;

chronologically display, on a display communicatively coupled to the server, patient data from the accessed clinical data;

obtain a first selection, by a first user, of a first item of the displayed patient data for discussion at a meeting concerning the specific patient;

obtain a second selection, by a second user, of a second item of the displayed patient data; and

provide a third user with an access to the first and second items.

The server of claim 2, wherein the at least one tool is further configured to repeat the steps of said accessing clinical data, said chronologically displaying patient data, said obtaining the first selection and the second selection, and said providing the third user with the access for at least one second patient.

4. The server of claim 1, wherein the at least one tool is further configured to:

obtain from the database clinical data of a specific patient;

obtain a plurality of search criteria, wherein the search criteria are either determined automatically based on clinical characteristics associated with the clinical data of the specific patient or manually selected by a user from a list of clinical characteristics;

generate the search query from the search criteria;

execute the search query to find patients in the database that match at least one of the clinical characteristics, thereby generating the search result; and

display the search result on a display communicatively coupled to the server.

5. The server of claim 4, wherein generating of the search query is automatically performed without receiving a search command from the user.

6. The server of claim 4, wherein providing the search results for display comprises organizing the search results by at least one of:

total matched clinical characteristics, relevancy, treatment types, and dates of specific events associated with the clinical characteristics.

7. The server of claim 1, wherein the at least one tool is further configured to:

generate a plurality of medical categories in a counter section of a display, each medical category being related to a specific medical department;

generate a clinical item reviewed by one or more medical personnel and selected from a clinical data of a patient, the clinical data of the patient being obtained from the database;

automatically store the clinical item in a corresponding medical category;

automatically store personnel information of the medical personnel associated with the clinical item;

generate a summary of each clinical item in each medical category, wherein the summary of the clinical item comprises at least one of a thumbnail image, a brief description, a date of when the clinical item was generated, and the associated medical personnel; and

display the summary of each clinical item on a display section corresponding to each medical category;

8. The server of claim 7, wherein the corresponding medical category in which the clinical item is stored is determined by matching the medical department from which the clinical item originated to the corresponding medical category.

9. The server of claim 7, wherein the at least one tool is further configured to at least one of:

indicate a preparation status of each medical category; and

display a documentation page comprising a treatment plan for the patient.

10. The server of claim 1, wherein the at least one tool is further configured to:

identify a plurality of collaborators that can collaborate in a virtual medical conference pertaining to a patient;

notify the collaborators using the medical personnel information of each collaborator;

receive comments from at least one of the collaborators;

send the comments of each collaborator to the other collaborators;

link the comments to a specific clinical data of the patient; and

record all the comments of the collaborators into the clinical data of the patient stored in the database.

11. The server of claim 10, wherein the at least one tool is further configured to:

search the clinical data of the patient to find predetermined flags based on the comments of the collaborators; and

if a predetermined flag is found, informing the collaborators that concordance of the comments needs to be checked, and tracking performance of concordance checks and resolutions of discordance by the collaborators.

12. The server of claim 11, wherein tracking the performance of concordance checks and resolutions of discordance by the collaborators is performed using a machine learning system trained based on at least one of past concordance checks and past resolutions of discordance.

13. The server of claim 10, wherein the comments of the collaborators comprise recommendations, and wherein the at least one tool is further configured to consolidate the recommendations of the collaborators for presenting to the patient.

14. The server of claim 10, wherein the at least one tool is further configured to generate de-identified clinical data by removing protected health information (PHI) from the clinical data of the patient.

15. The server of claim 10, wherein the at least one tool is further configured to enable the collaborators to at least one of:

request impromptu consultation sessions with a specialist;

determine the specialist'"'"'s active availability and best form of communication; and

document the consultation sessions regarding the patient and include the documented consultations as part of the patient'"'"'s clinical data.

16. The server of claim 10, wherein notifying the collaborators comprises inviting the collaborators to join a virtual medical conference pertaining to the patient.

17. The server of claim 1, wherein the at least one tool is further configured to:

generate anonymized clinical data of the patient by removing protected health information (PHI) from the clinical data of the patient;

transfer one or more clinical items pertaining to the patient from the anonymized clinical data to the third party application when the third party application is executed;

receive a compiled result from the third party application; and

display the compiled result in a third party application section of a display communicatively coupled to the server;

18. The server of claim 17, wherein transferring the clinical items comprises:

retrieving the one or more clinical items pre-specified by the third party application; and

sending the one or more clinical items to the third party application, wherein the third party application is configured to perform predetermined actions with the pre-specified clinical data and output a compiled result related to the retrieved pre-specified clinical item.

19. The server of claim 18, wherein the predetermined actions of the third party application comprise assembling keywords associated with the pre-specified clinical items, and performing operations based on to the keywords, said operations comprising at least one of:

initiating a search query, determining clinical guidelines, and determining recommended treatments for the patient.

20. The server of claim 18, wherein the third party applications are patient-aware and are configured to query and receive the pre-specified clinical items associated with the patient directly from the database.

21. The server of claim 1, wherein the at least one tool is further configured to:

determine and generate a graphical representation of an anatomical location of a patient'"'"'s medical problem based on the clinical data; and

display the graphical representation of the anatomical location of the patient'"'"'s medical problem on a display for a user.

22. A therapeutic mapping system for providing genomic alteration information, said system comprising:

a server comprising. a genomic database and a plurality of aggregated electronic clinical data of a patient; and

a client device capable of communicating with the server, said client device comprising;

a display interface;

a processor operatively coupled to the display interface, and

a memory operatively coupled to the processor, the memory storing computer-readable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising;

retrieving the electronic clinical data from the server, including at least one gene and genomic alteration for the patient'"'"'s cancer;

retrieving patient specific and genomic alteration specific information from the genomic database; and

displaying an interactive workspace that provides patient specific information about the genomic alteration relevant to the patient'"'"'s cancer, wherein the workspace displays summary information about the patient and genomic alteration, wherein the workspace incorporates hyperlinks to literature reports and established medical guidelines for the gene, genome interpretations for the genomic alteration, and matching therapies for the genomic alteration on the display interface.

The system of claim 22, wherein the electronic clinical data comprises picture archiving and communication system (PACS) data, radiology information system (RIS) data, digital pathology, laboratory information system (LIS) data, and electronic medical records (EMR) comprising previous medical treatments and test results.

24. The system of claim 22, wherein the matching therapies are displayed below the hyperlinks on the display interface.

25. The system of claim 23, wherein the electronic medical data are displayed in chronological timeline on the display interface, wherein the timeline is positioned vertically and adjacent to the hyperlinks and matching therapies.

26. The system of claim 22, wherein the matching therapies comprises information for at least one of:

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved drugs, clinical trials, and off-label drugs.

27. The system of claim 26, wherein the workspace is configured to display at least one of:

a level of evidence, a treatment regimen, drug resistance, drug cost, and a percent of insurance coverage for the FDA approved drug.

28. The system of claim 26, wherein the workspace is configured to display a plurality of tags, wherein one of the tags is selected and assigned to the FDA approved drug to indicate the patient'"'"'s response to the drug.

29. The system of claim 26, wherein the workspace is configured to display filters for the clinical trials, wherein the filters are selected from a group consisting of genetic mutation, patient condition, trial location, trial drug, drug class, drug resistance, institution performing the trial, drug phase, trial type, and trial status.

30. The system of claim 26, wherein the workspace is configured to display at least one of:

a drug indication, a level of evidence, a prescription label, a treatment regimen, drug cost, and a percent of insurance coverage for the off-label drug.

31. A system for providing neuro-oncology specific information of a patient, said system comprising:

a server comprising a database and a plurality of aggregated electronic clinical data of a patient, wherein the electronic clinical data comprises at least neuro-oncological tumor data; and

a client device capable of communicating with the server, said client device comprising a display interface, a processor operatively coupled to the display interface, and a memory operatively coupled to the processor, the memory storing computer-readable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising;

retrieving the neuro-oncological tumor data from the server; and

displaying an interactive workspace that provides patient specific information pertaining to the neuro-oncological tumor data, wherein the workspace displays summary information about the patient and neuro-oncological tumor data, wherein the summary information is presented as graphically simplified points of information, and wherein the workspace displays on the display interface at least one image of a tumor and its location.

The system of claim 31, wherein the electronic clinical data comprises picture archiving and communication system (PACS) data, radiology information system (RIS) data, digital pathology, laboratory information system (LIS) data, Next Gen Sequencing (NGS) data, and electronic medical records (EMR) comprising previous medical treatments and test results.

33. The system of claim 32, wherein the summary information is obtained from at least two of:

tumor type information from biopsy reports and the EMR, biomarkers captured from the biopsy report and the EMR, tumor size captured from recent MRI reports, the EMR or the RIS, stage information from other oncological data, diagnostic information captured from radiology reports, RIS or PACS, surgical procedures captured from surgical reports in EMR, and treatment plans captured from oncologists'"'"' notes and recommendations.

34. The system of claim 33, wherein the interactive workspace enables a user to prepare, present, and archive the neuro-oncology tumor data related to the patient'"'"'s treatment plans.

35. The system of claim 31, wherein the interactive workspace automatically charts and visualizes neuro-oncology-specific clinical values to provide a clinical overview of the patient'"'"'s neuro-oncology specific information.

36. The system of claim 35, wherein the neuro-oncology-specific clinical values are tumor size and biomarkers.

37. The system of claim 36, wherein the biomarkers are Ki67 (IHQ), MGMT methylation, 1p/19q, IDH-1, and BRAF.

38. The system of claim 31, wherein the interactive workspace enables a user to at least one of:

select and display patient data chronologically from the electronic clinical data;

display information pertaining to previous surgical treatments;

display information pertaining to previous therapy regimes,

access third party databases for side-by-side comparison of images from different specialties;

generate reports that provide system aggregated patient information, clinical trial query results specific to the patient, and multi-disciplinary recommendations; and

collaborate with other users in real-time to share findings and consult on potential clinical courses.

39. The system of claim 31, wherein the operations further comprise automatically plotting and displaying simultaneously, on the interactive workspace, a plurality of charts of the clinical values over time to enable a user to view correlations and relationships of the clinical data with respect to time.

40. The system of claim 39, wherein the charts comprises a timeline, wherein the clinical values comprise at least two of:

occurrence of previous clinical treatments, episodes of symptoms, occurrence of when a neuro-oncology-specific biomarker is detected, tumor size, biomarker values, lab data, consulting oncologists, and oncologists'"'"' notes and recommendations.

41. The system of claim 39, wherein the clinical data further comprises a treatment response, wherein a user is able to enter a qualitative input of the patient'"'"'s response to a treatment.

42. The system of claim 39, wherein the treatment is a drug treatment, wherein a drug dosage and the patient'"'"'s response to said drug dosage is plotted over time.
