2. A method for managing wireless connectivity of a vehicular mobile node travelling along a route, the method comprising:

determining a predicted route, the predicted route defined by a start location and an end location; defining a set of predicted proximal regions, wherein each predicted proximal region has a shape which encompasses at least a portion of the predicted route and wherein each predicted proximal region has associated therewith metrics defining access point availability therein; and managing the wireless connectivity of the vehicular mobile node travelling within a current predicted proximal region based on the metrics associated with the current predicted proximal region, said current predicted proximal region included in the set of predicted proximal regions. - View Dependent Claims (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10)

11. A device for managing wireless connectivity of a vehicular mobile node travelling along a route, the device comprising:

a processor; and machine readable memory storing machine executable instructions which when executed by the processor configure the device to; determine a predicted route, the predicted route defined by a start location and an end location; define a set of predicted proximal regions, wherein each predicted proximal region has a shape which encompasses at least a portion of the route and wherein each predicted proximal region has associated therewith metrics defining access point availability therein; and manage the wireless connectivity of the vehicular mobile node travelling within a current predicted proximal region based on the metrics associated with the current predicted proximal region, said current predicted proximal region included in the set of predicted proximal regions.

A computer program product comprising a non-transitory computer readable medium storing computer executable statements and instructions thereon that, when executed by a computer, perform operations for managing wireless connectivity of a vehicular mobile node travelling along a route, the operations comprising:

determining a predicted route, the predicted route defined by a start location and an end location; defining a set of predicted proximal regions, wherein each predicted proximal region has a shape which encompasses at least a portion of the route and wherein each predicted proximal region has associated therewith metrics defining access point availability therein; and managing the wireless connectivity of the vehicular mobile node travelling within a current predicted proximal region based on the metrics associated with the current predicted proximal region, said current predicted proximal region included in the set of predicted proximal regions.
