Abstract

Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for performing data analysis. Mapping analytics are applied on data which contains extensive information. Mapped building blocks are found by applying mapping analytics. These mapped building blocks help determine which functions are in use within a system. By determining which functions are in use within a system, a higher-level of functionality in use can also be determined.

Claims

1. A method for performing data analysis, the method comprising the steps of:

collecting, by one or more processors, during software execution, data pertaining to system events;

causing, by one or more processors, during software execution, a data consumption program to retrieve the collected data pertaining to the system events;

mapping, by one or more processors, one or more building blocks; and

determining, by one or more processors, a higher-level of functionality from the mapped one or more building blocks.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein collecting, during the software execution, data pertaining to the system events, comprises:

determining, by one or more processors, a location for data to be collected; and

examining, by one or more processors, at the location, a set of records pertaining to software execution.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein mapping the one or more building blocks, comprises:

applying, by one or more processors, mapping analytics to the data pertaining to the system events during software execution;

mapping, by one or more processors, one or more new building blocks from the mapped one or more building blocks; and

mapping, by one or more processors, the one or more building blocks in an iterative manner.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein determining, by one or more processors, the higher-level of functionality from the mapped one or more building blocks, comprises:

constructing, by one or more processors, a repository of higher-level functionalities;

identifying, by one or more processors, the higher-level functionalities, from a repository, in use by the system; and

correlating, by one or more processors, the higher-level functionalities from the mapped one or more building blocks with functions in use by the system.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein correlating the higher-level functionalities from the mapped one or more building blocks with functions in use by the system, comprises:

omitting, by one or more processors, confidential and measurement records.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

processing, by one or more processors, a set of information from extracted data;

determining, by one or more processors, data values from the extracted data associated with a set of functionalities in use; and

sending, by one or more processors, the set of functionalities in use to an outputting block.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein sending the set of functionalities in use to an outputting block, comprises:

outputting, by one or more processors, the set of functionalities in use to a user;

presenting, by one or more processors, a set of data, wherein future data consumption issues are detected from the set of data; and

identifying, by one or more processors, new functionalities from the output of the set of functionalities in use.
