Abstract

A system includes a circuit configured to detect a voltage corresponding to an electrical measurement of a nanopore. The system also includes a component configured to compare the voltage to another voltage. Based at least in part on the comparison, a one bit indicator is determined. The one bit indicator indicates whether the voltage indicates a change in a state of the nanopore. In the event it is determined that the voltage indicates the change in the state of the nanopore, a multiple bit signal is provided for output.

Claims

1. A system, comprising:

a circuit configured to detect a first voltage corresponding to an electrical measurement of a nanopore; and

a component configured to compare the first voltage to a second voltage;

wherein based at least in part on the comparison, a one bit indicator is determined, the one bit indicator indicates whether the first voltage indicates a change in a state of the nanopore, and in the event it is determined that the first voltage indicates the change in the state of the nanopore, a multiple bit signal is provided for output.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the change in the state of the nanopore indicates a nanopore event.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein detecting the first voltage includes detecting a voltage of a capacitor electrically coupled to the nanopore.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the system is included in a biochip.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the second voltage is a previous voltage measurement corresponding to a previous electrical measurement of the nanopore.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the second voltage corresponds an open-channel state of the nanopore.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the second voltage has been preconfigured.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the first voltage is one of a sequence of voltages detected at a periodic interval.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein the comparing the first voltage includes determining a difference between the first voltage and a previous voltage.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the comparing the first voltage includes determining whether the difference is above a threshold value.

11. The system of claim 9, wherein the comparing the first voltage includes determining whether the difference is within a specified value range.

12. The system of claim 9, wherein the multiple bit signal includes a value of the difference.

13. The system of claim 1, wherein the change in the state of the nanopore is a change in the state of the nanopore from an open-channel state to a threaded state.

14. The system of claim 1, wherein the change in the state of the nanopore is a change in the state of the nanopore from a first threaded state to a second threaded state or to an open-channel state.

15. The system of claim 1, wherein determining the one bit indicator includes determining whether the first voltage corresponds to a tag threaded state of the nanopore.

16. The system of claim 1, wherein the one bit indicator is concatenated with a plurality of other one bit indicators corresponding to a plurality of other nanopores.

17. The system of claim 1, wherein the multiple bit signal includes a value of the first voltage.

18. The system of claim 1, wherein in the event it is determined that the first voltage does not indicate the change in the state of the nanopore, it is determined to not output a value of the first voltage.

19. The system of claim 1, wherein determining whether the first voltage indicates the change in the state of the nanopore includes checking a state report indicator indicating whether a previous multiple bit signal has been previously provided for a current cycle of an AC voltage source signal cycle.

20. The system of claim 1, wherein determining that the first voltage indicates the change in the state of the nanopore includes determining that a voltage value corresponding to a tag threaded state of the nanopore of a current AC voltage source signal cycle has not been already provided for output.

21. A method, comprising:

detecting a first voltage corresponding to an electrical measurement of a nanopore;

comparing the first voltage to a second voltage;

determining, based at least in part on the comparison, a one bit indicator indicating whether the first voltage indicates a change in a state of the nanopore; and

in the event it is determined that the first voltage indicates the change in the state of the nanopore, providing for output a multiple bit signal.
