Abstract

A system includes a three dimensional display device configured to project computer generated controls and a target image in a three dimensional target volume; and an actuator configured to be worn by an operator. The system further includes one or more sensors configured to sense a movement of the actuator, wherein the controls are configured to be manipulated corresponding with the movement of the actuator within the target volume to alter an appearance of the target image.

Claims

1. A system comprising:

a computer system;

a display device responsive to the computer system and configured to display a computer-generated image in a three-dimensional volume; and

one or more sensors in communication with the computer system and configured to sense a user gesture to control the computer system.

2. The system of claim 1 wherein the user gesture includes control of the computer-generated image.

3. The system of claim 1 wherein the one or more sensors are configured to sense the user gesture with regard to a user body position and movement within a space.

4. The system of claim 3 wherein the one or more sensors are configured to sense the user gesture with regard to a user hand position and movement within the space.

5. The system of claim 1 wherein the one or more sensors include one or more actuators worn on the user hand.

6. The system of claim 1 wherein the one or more sensors are configured to sense the user gesture with regard to a user hand movement within a space.

7. The system of claim 6 wherein the computer-generated image includes a gesture icon and the one or more sensors are configured to sense the user gesture in reference to the gesture icon.

8. The system of claim 1 wherein control of the computer system includes control of the image in the three-dimensional volume.

9. The system of claim 1 wherein the computer system includes an audio system and control of the computer system includes control of the audio system.

10. A method comprising:

displaying a computer-generated image in a three-dimensional volume;

detecting a user gesture to control the computer-generated image; and

changing the computer-generated image in the three-dimensional volume in response to the user gesture.

11. The method of claim 10 wherein detecting the user gesture includes detecting the user gesture with regard to a user body position and movement within a space.

12. The method of claim 11 wherein detecting the user gesture includes detecting the user gesture with regard to a user hand position and movement within the space.

13. The method of claim 12 wherein detecting the user gesture includes detecting one or more actuators worn on the user hand.

14. The method of claim 10 wherein detecting the user gesture includes detecting the user gesture with regard to a user hand movement within a space.

15. The method of claim 14 wherein the computer-generated image includes a gesture icon and detecting the user gesture includes detecting the user gesture in reference to the gesture icon.
