1. A method of video data decoding in high dynamic range and wide color gamut operations, the method comprising:

  • obtaining video data, the video data including a scaled chroma component and a luma component, the scaled chroma component being scaled based on a chroma scaling factor that is a non-linear function of the luma component;

    obtaining the chroma scaling factor for the scaled chroma component;

    generating a chroma component from the scaled chroma component based on the chroma scaling factor; and

    outputting the chroma component.
