Abstract

An AC-driven LED assembly with discretely packaged LEDs being connected in an AC circuit and being sized preferably substantially 2.5 mm or less in length and width, and more preferably 2.0 mm or less; and being mounted to a substrate at a distance from the other of preferably approximately 3 mm or less, and more preferably 2.0 mm or less.

Claims

1. A lighting system comprising:

(a) at least one LED circuit including a substrate upon which are mounted

i. a diode bridge rectifier;

ii. two or more LED packages are electrically connected together in series or parallel and separated by a distance of 3 MM or less,

(b) a driver connected to the LED circuit which provides an AC voltage.

2. The lighting system of claim 1 wherein each or the two or more LED packages have a length of 2.5 mm or less and a width of 2.5 mm or less.

3. The lighting system of claim 1, wherein the driver is the mains power.

4. The lighting system of claim 1, wherein the driver is an electronic transformer.

5. The lighting system of claim 1, wherein the driver is a magnetic transformer.
