Abstract

In accordance with one embodiment, a method for securing data is disclosed. The method includes sensing multi-dimensional motion of a body part of a user to generate a multi-dimensional signal; in response to the multi-dimensional signal and user calibration parameters, generating a neuro-mechanical fingerprint; and encrypting data with an encryption algorithm using the neuro-mechanical fingerprint as a key.

12. A method of forming a secure communication channel, the method comprising:

entering a login name and password associated with a user at a client computer;

looking up user calibration parameters from a database of a server computer in response to the login name and password of the user;

sensing multi-dimensional motion of a body part of the user to generate a multi-dimensional signal;

in response to the multi-dimensional signal, generating a neuro-mechanical fingerprint (NFP) that is unique to the user;

evaluating the NFP of the user in response to the user calibration parameters to determine a match percentage;

in response to the match percentage being greater than or equal to a predetermined percentage, forming a secure communication channel between a client computer and a server computer.

13. The method of claim 12, further comprising

in response to the match percentage being greater than or equal to the predetermined percentage, encrypting data communicated between the client computer and the server computer in response to the NFP.

14. The method of claim 13, further comprising

in response to the match percentage, comparing the match percentage to the predetermined percentage to determine if the match percentage is greater than or equal to the predetermined percentage to verify the user is associated with the login name and password.

15. The method of claim 13, further comprising

storing the encrypted data in a storage device associated with the server computer in response to the NFP.

16. The method of claim 15, further comprising

decrypting the encrypted data in the storage device associated with the server computer in response to the NFP.

17. The method of claim 12, wherein encrypting data communication includes

encrypting data to be sent from the client computer in response to the NFP and decrypting data received at the client computer in response to the NFP;

and

encrypting data to be sent from the server computer in response to the NFP and decrypting data received at the server computer in response to the NFP.

18. The method of claim 12, further comprising

browsing to a web site in a browser with the client computer to view a login web page generated by the server computer.

19. The method of claim 12, wherein

the server computer is associated with a bank and the login name and password are associated with a bank account;

and

the client computer is remotely located away from the server computer and the user desires to form the secure communication channel to perform one or more banking transactions with the bank account.

20. The method of claim 12, wherein

the server computer is associated with a school and the login name and password are associated with a student account;

and

the client computer is remotely located away from the server computer and the user validation assures the proper student is present taking an examination of course materials associated with a class of a school.

21. The method of claim 12, wherein

the server computer is associated with a hospital or doctors office and the login name and password are associated with a patient account;

and

the client computer is remotely located away from the server computer and the user validation assures the proper patient has access to his/her records at the hospital or doctors office.

22. A method of securing data, the method comprising:

sensing multi-dimensional motion of a body part of a first authorized user to generate a first multi-dimensional signal;

in response to the first multi-dimensional signal and first user calibration parameters, generating a first neuro-mechanical fingerprint;

storing the first user calibration parameters in a secured storage device associated with the first neuro-mechanical fingerprint and one or more secondary neuro-mechanical fingerprints, and

encrypting data with an encryption algorithm using the first user calibration parameters as an encryption key.

23. The method of claim 22, wherein

the stored user calibration parameters are accessible from the secured storage device in response to the first neuro-mechanical fingerprint regenerated from the first authorized user.

24. The method of claim 23, wherein

the first user calibration parameters in the secured storage device are further associated with one or more secondary neuro-mechanical fingerprints, and

the stored user calibration parameters are further accessible from the secured storage device in response to the one or more secondary neuro-mechanical fingerprints generated from one or more secondary authorized users differing from the first authorized user.

25. The method of claim 24, wherein

the first authorized user invites the one or more secondary authorized users to have access to the stored user calibration parameters in response to verification of the one or more secondary authorized users with their respective one or more secondary neuro-mechanical fingerprints.

26. The method of claim 25, further comprising:

sensing multi-dimensional motion of a body part of one of the one or more secondary authorized users to generate a second multi-dimensional signal;

in response to second the multi-dimensional signal, regenerating a second neuro-mechanical fingerprint of the one of the one or more secondary authorized users;

determining a live match percentage in response to the second regenerated neuro-mechanical fingerprint and the second user calibration parameters associated with the one of the one or more secondary authorized users; and

in response to the live match percentage being greater than or equal to a live access match level, verifying the one of the one or more secondary authorized users to provide access of the stored user calibration parameters in the secured storage device.

27. The method of claim 26, further comprising:

in response to verification of the one of the one or more secondary authorized users, accessing the stored user calibration parameters from the secured storage device;

decrypting data with the encryption algorithm by using the stored user calibration parameters representing the encryption key.

28. The method of claim 26, wherein

the stored access match level is less than or equal to the live access match level.

29. The method of claim 22, wherein

the multi-dimensional motion of the body part is at least two dimensional motion and the multi-dimensional signal is at least a two dimensional signal.

30. The method of claim 23, wherein

the encrypted data is stored on a remote server;

and

the first user is remotely verified over a computer network to decrypt the encrypted data.

31. The method of claim 24, wherein

the encrypted data is stored on a remote server;

and

the one of the one or more secondary authorized users is remotely verified over a computer network to access the stored neuro-mechanical fingerprint in the secured storage device and decrypt the encrypted data.
