Abstract

A mobile application for most appropriate means of communications enables the user to locate a contact and determine the most appropriate way to reach the contact. The user may populate the user'"'"'s contact list with information such as the names of contacts, their cellphone numbers, and their e-mail addresses. When preparing to communicate with someone on the contact list, the user causes a query to be sent to the contact'"'"'s electronic device, which in turn sends a GPS query to acquire location information and sends it to the user. The user'"'"'s application uses the location information to determine the nature of the contact'"'"'s location and displays an icon corresponding to the type of location, such as a school, a library, a vehicle, or a restaurant. The user may select a communication method which is appropriate for the type of location or pursue some other course of action.

Claims

1. A mobile application for determining the most appropriate means of communication, comprising:

a. a mobile application;

b. said mobile application providing a contacts list;

c. said mobile application being programmed and capable of sending a query to determine the location of one or more contacts from the contacts list;

d. said mobile application being programmed and capable of determining most appropriate means of contacting the one or more contact based on the location.

2. The mobile application for determining the most appropriate means of communication of claim 1, wherein said mobile application is installed on a mobile electronic device.

3. The mobile application for determining the most appropriate means of communication of claim 1, wherein said mobile application provides a home screen;

said home screen providing;

an on/off button programmed to activate or deactivate the mobile application;

one or more contact buttons each associated with one of said contacts and programmed to query the location of the contact when pressed for a predetermined period of time;

a contact locator button programmed to activate a contact locator page; and

scroll buttons programmed to scroll through the contact list.

4. The mobile application for determining the most appropriate means of communication of claim 2, wherein said mobile application provides a home screen;

said home screen providing;

an on/off button programmed to activate or deactivate the mobile application;

one or more contact buttons each associated with one of said contacts and programmed to query the location of the contact when pressed for a predetermined period of time;

a contact locator button programmed to activate a contact locator page; and

scroll buttons programmed to scroll through the contact list.

5. The mobile application for determining the most appropriate means of communication of claim 3, wherein said query requests the location of the contact and determines the speed of travel of the contact by activating a global positioning system on the contacts mobile device.

6. The mobile application for determining the most appropriate means of communication of claim 4, wherein said query requests the location of the contact and determines the speed of travel of the contact by activating a global positioning system on the contacts mobile device.

7. The mobile application for determining the most appropriate means of communication of claim 2, wherein said mobile application uses said location to provide a location type;

said location type having a location logo associated with the location type.

8. The mobile application for determining the most appropriate means of communication of claim 3, wherein said mobile application uses said location to provide a location type;

said location type having a location logo associated with the location type.

9. The mobile application for determining the most appropriate means of communication of claim 4, wherein said mobile application uses said location to provide a location type;

said location type having a location logo associated with the location type.

10. The mobile application for determining the most appropriate means of communication of claim 5, wherein said mobile application uses said location to provide a location type;

said location type having a location logo associated with the location type.

11. The mobile application for determining the most appropriate means of communication of claim 6, wherein said mobile application uses said location to provide a location type;

said location type having a location logo associated with the location type.

12. The mobile application for determining the most appropriate means of communication of claim 2, wherein said location can be deactivated by the contact such that said query returns no location;

said mobile application displaying a message when no location can be determined.

13. The mobile application for determining the most appropriate means of communication of claim 3, wherein said location can be deactivated by the contact such that said query returns no location;

said mobile application displaying a message when no location can be determined.

14. The mobile application for determining the most appropriate means of communication of claim 4, wherein said location can be deactivated by the contact such that said query returns no location;

said mobile application displaying a message when no location can be determined.

15. The mobile application for determining the most appropriate means of communication of claim 5, wherein said location can be deactivated by the contact such that said query returns no location;

said mobile application displaying a message when no location can be determined.

16. The mobile application for determining the most appropriate means of communication of claim 6, wherein said location can be deactivated by the contact such that said query returns no location;

said mobile application displaying a message when no location can be determined.
