Abstract

A system may receive a request from a user to build a custom application specific to an operating system (OS) platform. The system may include an application gateway and the custom application may be a user-customized variation of an application gateway client. The system may prepare a build request and send it to a bonding client running on a work station specific to the OS platform. The bonding client may execute build scripts with user-provided configuration information to create the custom application. Instead of submitting the custom application to a third-party digital distribution platform, the bonding client may store the custom application in a storage location accessible by the system. The system, responsive to the request from the user, may send a response to the computing device, the response containing a link to the storage location of the custom application.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

receiving, by a system embodied on at least one server machine via a user interface running on a computing device communicatively connected to the system, a request to build a custom application specific to an operating system platform;

preparing, by the system, a build request containing configuration information for the customer application;

communicating, by the system, the build request to a bonding client, the bonding client running on a workstation, the work station specific to the operating system platform;

building the custom application specific to the operating system platform on the workstation, the building performed by the bonding client running on the workstation, the building comprising executing build scripts with the configuration information for the customer application contained in the build request;

persisting the custom application in a storage location accessible by the system; and

responsive to the request to build the custom application specific to the operating system platform, sending a response to the computing device, the response containing a link to the storage location of the custom application, the sending performed by the system.

2. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:

determining, by the system, whether the custom application is to be built in a single application mode or a multi-application mode.

3. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:

determining, by the system, whether the custom application is to be built with custom branding assets or default image assets.

4. The method according to claim 3, wherein the custom branding assets comprise at least one of an icon, a logo, or a launch screen for an enterprise.

The method according to claim 1, wherein the system comprises an application gateway, wherein the application gateway comprises a web access service and a bonding service, wherein the user interface runs in a browser application on the computing device, the web access service providing a packager web client accessible via the browser application on the computing device, the build request prepared by the packager web client and communicated to the bonding client via the web access service and the bonding service of the application gateway.

6. The method according to claim 5, wherein the custom application is a user-customized variation of an application gateway client, the user-customized variation comprising custom branding assets specific to an enterprise.

7. The method according to claim 6, wherein the user-customized variation further comprises a mobile device management component specific to the enterprise.

8. A system, comprising:

at least one processor;

at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium; and

stored instructions translatable by the at least one processor to perform;

receiving, via a user interface running on a computing device communicatively connected to the system, a request to build a custom application specific to an operating system platform;

preparing a build request containing configuration information for the customer application;

communicating the build request to a bonding client, the bonding client running on a workstation, the work station specific to the operating system platform;

building the custom application specific to the operating system platform on the workstation, the building performed by the bonding client running on the workstation, the building comprising executing build scripts with the configuration information for the customer application contained in the build request;

persisting the custom application in a storage location accessible by the system; and

responsive to the request to build the custom application specific to the operating system platform, sending a response to the computing device, the response containing a link to the storage location of the custom application.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the stored instructions are translatable by the at least one processor to perform:

determining whether the custom application is to be built in a single application mode or a multi-application mode.

10. The system of claim 8, wherein the stored instructions are translatable by the at least one processor to perform:

determining whether the custom application is to be built with custom branding assets or default image assets.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein the custom branding assets comprise at least one of an icon, a logo, or a launch screen for an enterprise.

12. The system of claim 8, wherein the stored instructions are further translatable by the at least one processor to implement an application gateway, wherein the application gateway comprises a web access service and a bonding service, wherein the user interface runs in a browser application on the computing device, the web access service providing a packager web client accessible via the browser application on the computing device, the build request prepared by the packager web client and communicated to the bonding client via the web access service and the bonding service of the application gateway.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the custom application is a user-customized variation of an application gateway client, the user-customized variation comprising custom branding assets specific to an enterprise.

14. The system of claim 12, wherein the user-customized variation further comprises a mobile device management component specific to the enterprise.

15. A computer program product comprising at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions translatable by at least one processor of a system to perform:

receiving, via a user interface running on a computing device communicatively connected to the system, a request to build a custom application specific to an operating system platform;

preparing a build request containing configuration information for the customer application;

communicating the build request to a bonding client, the bonding client running on a workstation, the work station specific to the operating system platform;

building the custom application specific to the operating system platform on the workstation, the building performed by the bonding client running on the workstation, the building comprising executing build scripts with the configuration information for the customer application contained in the build request;

persisting the custom application in a storage location accessible by the system; and

responsive to the request to build the custom application specific to the operating system platform, sending a response to the computing device, the response containing a link to the storage location of the custom application.

16. The computer program product of claim 15, wherein the stored instructions are translatable by the at least one processor to perform:

determining whether the custom application is to be built in a single application mode or a multi-application mode.

17. The computer program product of claim 15, wherein the instructions are translatable by the at least one processor to perform:

determining whether the custom application is to be built with custom branding assets or default image assets, wherein the custom branding assets comprise at least one of an icon, a logo, or a launch screen for an enterprise.

18. The computer program product of claim 15, wherein the stored instructions are further translatable by the at least one processor to implement an application gateway, wherein the application gateway comprises a web access service and a bonding service, wherein the user interface runs in a browser application on the computing device, the web access service providing a packager web client accessible via the browser application on the computing device, the build request prepared by the packager web client and communicated to the bonding client via the web access service and the bonding service of the application gateway.

19. The computer program product of claim 18, wherein the custom application is a user-customized variation of an application gateway client, the user-customized variation comprising custom branding assets specific to an enterprise.

20. The computer program product of claim 18, wherein the user-customized variation further comprises a mobile device management component specific to the enterprise.
