Abstract

Embodiments of the present invention facilitate displaying and animating sectioned content that retains fidelity across desktop and mobile devices. An animation timeline is identified for an article comprising one or more sections. The animation timeline enables the article to appear to a user as a webpage. When a user manipulates the viewport, the animation timeline manages content movement in and out of the viewport. For articles comprising more than one section, an internal timeline may be created for each section and initialized when each article starts to enter the viewport. As articles are loaded into memory, they become visible in the viewport and behaviors may be attached to each section. In this way, memory is preserved and the document can be rendered in full fidelity across any device.

Claims

1. A non-transitory computer storage media storing computer-useable instructions that, when used by one or more computing devices, cause the one or more computing devices to perform operations comprising:

receiving a request from a user device for a document comprising one or more articles, the request causing at least a portion of the document to be loaded into a viewport;

receiving a manipulation to the document, a distance in pixels the manipulation traveled being mapped to a portion of an animation timeline; and

managing article movement in and out of the viewport by playing the portion of the animation timeline.

2. The one or more computer storage media of claim 1, further comprising rendering the document in full fidelity regardless of device type of the user device initiating the request.

3. The one or more computer storage media of claim 1, further comprising identifying each section in the one or more articles.

4. The one or more computer storage media of claim 3, further comprising identifying an internal timeline for each section.

5. The one or more computer storage media of claim 4, further comprising initializing behaviors for each internal timeline when an article starts to enter the viewport.

6. The one or more computer storage media of claim 1, further comprising managing which articles are loaded into memory.

7. The one or more computer storage media of claim 1, further comprising initializing a behavior to the articles as they are loaded into memory.

8. The one or more computer storage media of claim 6, wherein each section of a particular article has a different behavior.

9. The one or more computer storage media of claim 1, further comprising changing the articles that are loaded into memory as the viewport is manipulated.

10. The one or more computer storage media of claim 8, further comprising releasing cached resources for the article as an article leaves the viewport.

11. The one or more computer storage media of claim 1, further comprising:

determining there is enough memory to keep an article in memory; and

keeping the article in memory off screen.

12. The one or more computer storage media of claim 1, further comprising determining there is not enough memory to keep an article in memory.

13. The one or more computer storage media of claim 12, further comprising removing the article from memory.

14. The one or more computer storage media of claim 1, wherein the movement of any section within an article at any given time is synchronized without having to measure elements or figure out where the elements are relative to the viewport during each manipulation of the viewport.

15. A computerized method for displaying and animating sectioned content, the computerized method comprising:

identifying, via a first computing process, an animation timeline for an article, the article comprising one or more sections;

rendering, via a second computing process, at least a portion of the article, via a viewport, in full fidelity across any device;

identifying, via a third computing process, each section in the article;

initializing, via a fourth computing process, an internal timeline for each section of the article that is loaded into memory; and

receiving, via a fifth computing process, a manipulation to the article, the manipulation utilizing the animation timeline to manage content movement in and out of the viewport;

wherein each of the computing processes is performed by one or more computing devices.

16. The computerized method of claim 15, further comprising releasing, via a sixth computing process, cached resources for each section as it leaves the viewport.

17. The computerized method of claim 15, further comprising synchronizing, via an seventh computing process, the movement of any content within a section at any given time without having to measure elements or figure out where the elements are relative to the viewport during each manipulation of the viewport.

18. The computerized method of claim 15, further comprising receiving, via an eighth computing process, a request from a user via a user device to render the article.

19. The computerized method of claim 15, further comprising, via a ninth computing process, mapping a distance in pixels the manipulation traveled to a portion of an animation timeline, wherein the portion of the animation timeline is played to manage content movement in and out of the viewport.

20. A computerized system comprising:

one or more processors; and

a non-transitory computer storage media storing computer-useable instructions that, when used by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to;

identify an animation timeline for an article, the article comprising one or more sections, wherein the animation timeline includes an internal timeline for each section within the document;

receive a manipulation to the article, a distance in pixels the manipulation traveled being mapped to a portion of the animation timeline; and

manage content movement in and out of the viewport by playing the portion of the animation timeline.
