Abstract

The invention provides a method (10) for setting up a local broadband network with the following features: electronic circuitry determines a geographic location (12) of the electronic circuitry; the electronic circuitry measures an actual condition (13-17) of the broadband network in the location (12); the electronic circuitry selects an external function (18) in the broadband network depending on the location (12) and the actual condition (13-17); the electronic circuitry signals at least the location (12) and the external function (18) to a central database (26) via a common communication backbone; and the electronic circuitry complies with a communication protocol of the broadband network dependent on the external function (18).

The invention further provides corresponding electronic circuitry and components, a corresponding computer program, and a corresponding storage medium.

Claims

1. A method (10) for setting up a local broadband network, comprising;

determining, by electronic circuitry (50), a geographic location (12) of the electronics circuitry (50),

measuring, by the electronic circuitry (50), an actual condition (13-17) of the local broadband network at the location (12),

selecting, by the electronic circuitry (50), select an external function (18) in the local broadband network dependent on the location (12) and the actual condition (13-17),

signaling, by the electronics circuitry (50) least the location (12) and the external function (18) to a central database (26) via a common communication backbone (41), and

wherein the electronic circuitry (50) complies with a communication protocol of the local broadband network dependent on the external function (18).

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein:

the measuring of the actual condition (13-17) and the selection of the external function (18) is effected automatically.

3. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:

operating, by the electronics circuitry (50), an antenna control (24) depending on the external function (18).

4. The method according to claim 3, wherein:

the antenna control (24) is effected by means of a multiplexer (32) fed from a frequency generator (34) via a data modulator (33).

5. The method according to claim 1, wherein:

depending on the selected external function (18), the electronics circuitry (50) serve operates as;

a repeater (20),

a preferably multi-provider capable base station (19),

a switch,

a hub,

a gateway (21),

an access point (22), or

a communication terminal (42).

6. The method according to claim 5, further comprising:

depending on the actual condition (13-17), assigning, by the electronic circuitry (50), the location (12) to a region (43) developed for the local broadband network or to a region (44) undeveloped for the local broadband network and, if the location (12) is assigned to the undeveloped region (43), the electronic circuitry (50) operates as the repeater (20).

7. The method according to claim 6, further comprising:

if the location (12) is assigned to the developed region (43), the electronic circuitry (50) operates as the base station (19).

8. Electronic circuitry for setting up a broadband network, particularly in a method (10) according to claim 1, comprising:

means for determining a geographic location (12) of the electronic circuitry (50),

means for measuring an actual condition (13-17) of the broadband network at the location (12),

means for selecting an external function (18) in the broadband network depending on the location (12) and the actual condition (13-17),

means for reporting at least the location (12) and the external function (18) to a central database (26) via a common communication backbone (41), and

means for complying with a communication protocol of the broadband network dependent on the external function (18).

10. A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium having a computer program -stored thereon that, when executed by a processor (35), causes the processor to execute the steps of:

determining a geographic location (12),

measuring an actual condition (13-17) of a local broadband network at the location (12),

selecting an external function (18) in the local broadband network dependent on the location (12) and the actual condition (13-17),

signaling at least the location (12) and the external function (18) to a central database (26) via a common communication backbone (41), and

complying with a communication protocol of the local broadband network dependent on the external function (18).
