Abstract

A reproducing device that can reproduce data and operates on a battery includes displaying means, attitude detecting means for detecting an attitude of the reproducing device, determining means for determining whether the reproducing device satisfies a predetermined condition, and controlling means for changing a setting of the reproducing device on a basis of a result of detection of the attitude detecting means when the determining means determines that the reproducing device satisfies the predetermined condition.

Claims

1. A reproducing device that can reproduce data and operates on a battery, said reproducing device comprising:

displaying means;

attitude detecting means for detecting an attitude of said reproducing device;

determining means for determining whether said reproducing device satisfies a predetermined condition; and

controlling means for changing a setting of said reproducing device on a basis of a result of detection of said attitude detecting means when said determining means determines that said reproducing device satisfies the predetermined condition.

2. The reproducing device as claimed in claim 1,

wherein the setting changed by said controlling means is a display orientation of data displayed on the displaying means, the display orientation being associated with the result of detection of said detecting means in advance.

3. The reproducing device as claimed in claim 2,

wherein said controlling means controls said displaying means so as to display the data displayed on said displaying means in the display orientation associated in advance when the result of detection of said attitude detecting means is identical for a predetermined period.

4. The reproducing device as claimed in claim 2, further comprising power supplying means for supplying power to said reproducing device,

wherein said determining means determines that said reproducing device satisfies the predetermined condition when power supply from said power supplying means to said reproducing device is started.

5. The reproducing device as claimed in claim 2,

wherein said controlling means controls said displaying means so as to display a screen-saver screen on said displaying means, and

said determining means determines that said reproducing device satisfies the predetermined condition when a change is made from a state in which said screen-saver screen is displayed on a display screen to a state in which data displayed on said displaying means before said screen-saver screen is displayed is displayed on said displaying means.

6. The reproducing device as claimed in claim 2, further comprising operating means having a plurality of operating buttons,

wherein said determining means determines that said reproducing device satisfies the predetermined condition when an operating instruction is given to the controlling means by said operating means.

7. The reproducing device as claimed in claim 1, further comprising operating means having a plurality of operating buttons,

wherein the setting changed by said controlling means is definitions assigned to the plurality of operating buttons of said operating means on the basis of the result of detection of said attitude detecting means, and

said controlling means changes functions of the plurality of operating buttons of said operating means by changing the definitions assigned to the plurality of operating buttons of said operating means.

8. The reproducing device as claimed in claim 7,

wherein said controlling means performs control so as to change the functions of the plurality of operating buttons of said operating means when the result of detection of said attitude detecting means is identical for a predetermined period.

9. The reproducing device as claimed in claim 7, further comprising power supplying means for supplying power to said reproducing device,

wherein said determining means determines that said reproducing device satisfies the predetermined condition when power supply from said power supplying means to said reproducing device is started.

10. The reproducing device as claimed in claim 7,

wherein said controlling means controls said displaying means so as to display a screen-saver screen on said displaying means, and

said determining means determines that said reproducing device satisfies the predetermined condition when a change is made from a state in which said screen-saver screen is displayed on a display screen to a state in which data displayed on said displaying means before said screen-saver screen is displayed is displayed on said displaying means.

11. The reproducing device as claimed in claim 7,

wherein said determining means determines that said reproducing device satisfies the predetermined condition when an operating instruction is given to the controlling means by said operating means.

12. A setting changing method for changing a setting of a reproducing device operating on a battery, said setting changing method comprising:

a determining step of determining whether said reproducing device satisfies a predetermined condition;

an attitude detecting step of detecting an attitude of said reproducing device when said reproducing device satisfies the predetermined condition; and

a setting changing step of changing the setting of said reproducing device on a basis, of said detected attitude of said reproducing device.

13. The setting changing method as claimed in claim 12,

wherein said setting changing step changes a display orientation of data displayed on displaying means of said reproducing device, the display orientation being associated with a result of detection of said attitude detecting step in advance.

14. The setting changing method as claimed in claim 13, further comprising a confirming step of confirming that the result of detection of said attitude detecting step is identical for a predetermined period,

wherein said setting changing step changes the display orientation of the data displayed on said displaying means of said reproducing device when said confirming step confirms that the result of detection of said attitude detecting step is identical for the predetermined period.

15. The setting changing method as claimed in claim 12,

wherein said determining step determines that said reproducing device satisfies the predetermined condition when power supply to said reproducing device from power supplying means for supplying power to said reproducing device is started.

16. The setting changing method as claimed in claim 12,

wherein said determining step determines that said reproducing device satisfies the predetermined condition when a change is made from a state in which a screen-saver screen is displayed on a display screen to a state in which data displayed on said displaying means before said screen-saver screen is displayed is displayed on said displaying means.

17. The setting changing method as claimed in claim 12,

wherein said determining step determines that said reproducing device satisfies the predetermined condition when an operating instruction is given to controlling means by operating means.

18. The setting changing method as claimed in claim 12,

wherein said setting changing step changes functions of a plurality of operating buttons of operating means possessed by said reproducing device by changing definitions assigned to the plurality of operating buttons of said operating means on a basis of a result of detection of said attitude detecting step.

19. A setting changing device that can reproduce data and operates on a battery, said setting changing device comprising:

displaying means;

attitude detecting means for detecting an attitude of said reproducing device;

determining means for determining whether said reproducing device satisfies a predetermined condition; and

controlling means for changing a setting of said reproducing device on a basis of a result of detection of said attitude detecting means when said determining means determines that said reproducing device satisfies the predetermined condition.

20. The setting changing device as claimed in claim 19,

wherein the setting changed by said controlling means is a display orientation of data displayed on the displaying means, the display orientation being associated with the result of detection of said detecting means in advance.

21. The setting changing device as claimed in claim 19, further comprising operating means having a plurality of operating buttons,

wherein the setting changed by said controlling means is definitions assigned to the plurality of operating buttons of said operating means on the basis of the result of detection of said attitude detecting means, and

said controlling means changes functions of the plurality of operating buttons of said operating means by changing the definitions assigned to the plurality of operating buttons of said operating means.

22. A reproducing device that can reproduce data and operates on a battery, said reproducing device comprising:

a displaying section;

an attitude detecting section detecting an attitude of said reproducing device;

a determining section determining whether said reproducing device satisfies a predetermined condition; and

a controlling section changing a setting of said reproducing device on a basis of a result of detection of said attitude detecting section when said determining section determines that said reproducing device satisfies the predetermined condition.

23. A setting changing device that can reproduce data and operates on a battery, said setting changing device comprising:

a displaying section;

an attitude detecting section detecting an attitude of said reproducing device;

a determining section determining whether said reproducing device satisfies a predetermined condition; and

a controlling section changing a setting of said reproducing device on a basis of a result of detection of said attitude detecting section when said determining section determines that said reproducing device satisfies the predetermined condition.
