Abstract

A dynamic transaction card that includes a transaction card having a number of layers, each of which may be interconnected to one another. For example, a dynamic transaction card may include an outer layer, a potting layer, a sensor layer that may be utilized to activate a dynamic transaction card by authenticating the card user as authorized to use the card through user authentication input recognition, which may be gesture and voice recognition processing, a display layer (including, for example, LEDs, a dot matrix display, and the like), a microcontroller storing firmware, Java applets, Java applet integration, and the like, an EMV™ chip, an energy storage component, one or more antenna (e.g., Bluetooth™ antenna, NFC antenna, and the like), a power management component, a flexible printed circuit board (PCB), a chassis, and/or a card backing layer.

Claims

1. A dynamic transaction card comprising:

an outer protective layer having an outer edge;

a card backing having an outer edge, wherein the card backing outer edge and the outer protective layer are connected to one another along the respective outer edges to form a casing for the components of the dynamic transaction card;

wherein the components of the dynamic transaction card include;

a EuroPay-MasterCard-via (EMV™

) chip comprising an EMV™

plate accessible from the outer protective layer and an EMV™

processor;

a microcontroller;

a magnetic stripe storing tracks of data that are utilized to conduct a transaction;

a sensor that detects an input of the dynamic transaction card, wherein the input causes input data to be processed to determine if the dynamic transaction card should be activated by comparing the input to an exemplar input;

an antenna comprising a Near-Field Communication (NFC) antenna, a Bluetooth™

antenna, a Bluetooth®

Low Energy (BLE) antenna, a WiFi Direct antenna, and/or a radio-frequency identification (RFID) antenna;

a display component that is visible through or extends through the outer protective layer and includes a dot matrix display, one or more LED lights, one or more OLED lights, electronic paper, Mirasol, TF LCD, and/or Quantum Dot Display, wherein the display component generates a predefined pattern in response to receiving data from a transaction terminal or an account holder device based on the display settings; and

an energy storage component to power the dynamic transaction card.

2. The dynamic transaction card of claim 1, wherein the microcontroller, a user device, user authentication system and/or backend system compares the input to multiple exemplar inputs associated with multiple card users to determine if the dynamic transaction card should be activated.

3. The dynamic transaction card of claim 2, wherein the microcontroller performs signal acquisition and filtering of the input.

4. The dynamic transaction card of claim 3, wherein the user device performs signal compression and decompression of the signal filtered by the microcontroller.

5. The dynamic transaction card of claim 4, wherein the user authentication system and/or backend system processes data packaged from the input to authentication a user.

6. The dynamic transaction card of claim 1, wherein the microcontroller activates the dynamic transaction card by activating the EMV™

chip and/or magnetic stripe.

7. The dynamic transaction card of claim 6, wherein the exemplar input is configured on a mobile application on a card user'"'"'s mobile device.

8. The dynamic transaction card of claim 7, wherein the exemplar input is stored on the EMV™

chip, user authentication system and/or a backend system.

9. The dynamic transaction card of claim 8, wherein the exemplar input is a gesture.

10. The dynamic transaction card of claim 9, wherein the sensor includes a touch sensor, a light sensor, a heat sensor, a piezoelectric sensor, and/or load cells.

11. The dynamic transaction card of claim 10, wherein the gesture includes a card user performed tap, long press, flick, scroll, and/or pinch.

12. The dynamic transaction card of claim 9, wherein the sensor includes an accelerometer, a motion sensor, and/or a gyroscope.

13. The dynamic transaction card of claim 12, wherein the gesture includes changing the orientation of the dynamic transaction card.

The dynamic transaction card of claim 9, wherein the input comprises a card user performed gesture, and wherein the microcontroller, a user device, user authentication system and/or backend system uses gesture recognition processing to compare the card user performed gesture to the exemplar input to determine if the dynamic transaction card should be activated.

15. The dynamic transaction card of claim 8, wherein the exemplar input is a voiceprint.

16. The dynamic transaction card of claim 15, wherein the sensor includes a microphone.

17. The dynamic transaction card of claim 16, wherein the microphone is constructed out of a piezoelectric element or a bimorph element.

The dynamic transaction card of claim 15, wherein the input comprises a card user spoken voiceprint, and wherein the microcontroller, a user device, user authentication system and/or backend system uses voice recognition processing to compare the card user spoken voiceprint to the predetermined input to determine if the dynamic transaction card should be activated.

19. The dynamic transaction card of claim 14, wherein the microcontroller performs signal acquisition and filtering of the input.

20. The dynamic transaction card of claim 19, wherein the user device performs signal compression and decompression of the signal filtered by the microcontroller.

21. The dynamic transaction card of claim 20, wherein the user authentication system and/or backend system processes data packaged from the input to authentication a user.

22. The dynamic transaction card of claim 18, wherein the microcontroller performs signal acquisition and filtering of the input.

23. The dynamic transaction card of claim 22, wherein the user device performs signal compression and decompression of the signal filtered by the microcontroller.

24. The dynamic transaction card of claim 23, wherein the user authentication system and/or backend system processes data packaged from the input to authentication a user.
