Abstract

Systems and methods for graphically representing a deployment process of a development environment are described. A request to create a development environment is received from a user. The request is evaluated to identify a stored template appropriate for the requested development environment, and the identified stored template is parsed to identify a plurality of executable instructions. A graphical depiction of the executable instructions is generated for display on a display device coupled to a development environment deployment system. Upon receipt of an updated status of an executable instruction from a virtual machine host coupled to the development environment deployment system, the graphical depiction of the executable instructions is modified.

Claims

1. A development environment deployment system, comprising:

a non-transitory memory storing a plurality of development environment deployment templates for creation of a plurality of development environments; and

one or more hardware processors coupled to the non-transitory memory and configured to read instructions from the non-transitory memory to cause the system to perform operations comprising;

receiving, from a user, a request to create a development environment;

evaluating the request to identify a stored template appropriate for the requested development environment;

parsing the identified stored template to identify a plurality of executable instructions;

generating a graphical depiction of the executable instructions for display on a display device coupled to the development environment deployment system;

receiving an updated status of a first executable instruction in the plurality of executable instructions from a virtual machine host coupled to the development environment deployment system; and

modifying the graphical depiction of the executable instructions in response to the receipt of the updated status.

2. The development environment deployment system of claim 1, wherein parsing includes parsing the identified stored template to identify conditional logic for the executable instructions, and

wherein the generated graphical depiction of the executable instructions includes a graphical depiction of the conditional logic.

3. The development environment deployment system of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise:

receiving an updated status of a second executable instruction in the plurality of executable instructions from a virtual machine host coupled to the development environment deployment system, wherein the updated status is an error status;

modifying the graphical depiction of the executable instructions in response to the receipt of the error status; and

receiving, by the development environment deployment system, an update from the user to retry the second executable instruction.

4. The development environment deployment system of claim 1, wherein one or more of the executable instructions in the plurality of executable instructions include a call to an application programming interface of a virtual machine host.

5. The development environment deployment system of claim 1, wherein each stored template is formatted in a JavaScript object notation format.

6. The development environment deployment system of claim 1, wherein modifying the graphical depiction of the executable instructions includes changing a color of a portion of the graphical depiction.

7. The development environment deployment system of claim 1, wherein modifying the graphical depiction of the executable instructions includes shading a portion of the graphical depiction.

8. A method for graphically depicting deployment of a development environment, comprising:

receiving, from a user over a network, a request to create a development environment;

evaluating, by a development environment deployment system, the request to identify a stored template appropriate for the requested development environment;

parsing, by the development environment deployment system, the identified stored template to identify a plurality of executable instructions;

generating a graphical depiction of the executable instructions for display on a display device coupled to the development environment deployment system;

receiving an updated status of a first executable instruction in the plurality of executable instructions from a virtual machine host coupled to the development environment deployment system; and

modifying the graphical depiction of the executable instructions in response to the receipt of the updated status.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein parsing includes parsing the identified stored template to identify conditional logic for the executable instructions, and

wherein the generated graphical depiction of the executable instructions includes a graphical depiction of the conditional logic.

10. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

receiving an updated status of a second executable instruction in the plurality of executable instructions from a virtual machine host coupled to the development environment deployment system, wherein the updated status is an error status;

modifying the graphical depiction of the executable instructions in response to the receipt of the error status; and

receiving, by the development environment deployment system, an update from the user to retry the second executable instruction.

11. The method of claim 8, wherein one or more of the executable instructions in the plurality of executable instructions include a call to an application programming interface of a virtual machine host.

12. The method of claim 8, wherein each stored template is formatted in a JavaScript object notation format.

13. The method of claim 8, wherein modifying the graphical depiction of the executable instructions includes changing a color of a portion of the graphical depiction.

14. The method of claim 8, wherein modifying the graphical depiction of the executable instructions includes shading a portion of the graphical depiction.

15. A non-transitory machine-readable medium having stored thereon machine-readable instructions executable to cause a machine to perform operations comprising:

receiving, from a user over a network, a request to create a development environment;

evaluating the request to identify a stored template appropriate for the requested development environment;

parsing the identified stored template to identify a plurality of executable instructions;

generating a graphical depiction of the executable instructions for display on a display device coupled to the development environment deployment system;

receiving an updated status of a first executable instruction in the plurality of executable instructions from a virtual machine host coupled to the development environment deployment system; and

modifying the graphical depiction of the executable instructions in response to the receipt of the updated status.

16. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein parsing includes parsing the identified stored template to identify conditional logic for the executable instructions, and

wherein the generated graphical depiction of the executable instructions includes a graphical depiction of the conditional logic.

17. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the operations further comprise:

receiving an updated status of a second executable instruction in the plurality of executable instructions from a virtual machine host coupled to the development environment deployment system, wherein the updated status is an error status;

modifying the graphical depiction of the executable instructions in response to the receipt of the error status; and

receiving, by the development environment deployment system, an update from the user to retry the second executable instruction.

18. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein one or more of the executable instructions in the plurality of executable instructions include a call to an application programming interface of a virtual machine host.

19. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein each stored template is formatted in a JavaScript object notation format.

20. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein modifying the graphical depiction of the executable instructions includes changing a color of a portion of the graphical depiction.
