Abstract

The present invention provides a method for transmitting a broadcast signal, and a system capable of supporting future broadcast services in an environment supporting future hybrid broadcast using terrestrial broadcast networks and the Internet. In addition, the present invention provides efficient signaling methods using both terrestrial broadcast networks and the Internet in an environment supporting future hybrid broadcast.

15. A method for transmitting a broadcast signal, the method comprising:

generating service data of a broadcast service and service signaling information for signaling the broadcast service, the service data including service components of the broadcast service;

generating a service list table, the service list table including bootstrap information for identifying a transport session carrying the service signaling information;

processing the service components, the service signaling information and the service list table into Internet Protocol (IP) packets; and

generating a broadcast signal by processing the IP packets, and transmitting the broadcast signal through a broadcast network,

wherein the service signaling information includes User Service Bundle Description (USBD), the USBD providing references to other service signaling information required to access the broadcast service and the service components.

16. The method of claim 15,

wherein the service list table or the USBD further includes capability information, the capability information describing at least one capability required to present the broadcast service meaningfully,

wherein the at least one capability is described by a pre-determined capability code or a pre-determined capability category code indicating a category of a capability.

17. The method of claim 15, wherein when the service signaling information of the broadcast service is delivered by using an MPEG Media Transport (MMT) Protocol,

the service signaling information further includes a first MMT signaling message providing acquisition information for the service components of the broadcast service.

18. The method of claim 17,

wherein the service signaling information further includes a second MMT signaling message including caption information about the broadcast service,

wherein the caption information includes language information indicating language of caption of the broadcast service, aspect ratio information specifying aspect ratio of the caption, easy reader information indicating whether the caption is an easy-reader caption, and 3-Dimensional (3D) support information indicating whether the caption supports for 3D video.

19. The method of claim 18,

wherein the second MMT signaling message further includes 3D related information about service components of the broadcast service,

wherein the 3D related information includes minimum disparity information specifying minimum disparity between pictures of views, and maximum disparity information specifying maximum disparity between the pictures of the views.

20. The method of claim 18,

wherein the USBD includes component information about the service components of the broadcast service,

wherein the component information includes component type information indicating a type of a corresponding service component, and component role information indicating a role of the corresponding service component based on the type of the corresponding service component,

wherein the component role information indicates whether an audio or video component of the broadcast service is for hearing-impaired or visually-impaired.

21. The method of claim 16, wherein when the service signaling information of the broadcast service is delivered by using a Real-Time Object Delivery over Unidirectional Transport (ROUTE) Protocol,

the USBD further includes information referencing an Media Presentation Description (MPD) which includes description about media presentation of the broadcast service,

wherein the MPD further includes caption information and 3D related information for the broadcast service.

22. An apparatus for transmitting a broadcast signal, the apparatus comprising:

a service data generator that generates service data of a broadcast service and service signaling information for signaling the broadcast service, the service data including service components of the broadcast service;

a low level signaling generator that generates a service list table, the service list table including bootstrap information for identifying a transport session carrying the service signaling information;

a transport layer processor that processes the service components, the service signaling information and the service list table into Internet Protocol (IP) packets; and

a physical layer processor that processes a broadcast signal by processing the IP packets, and transmits the broadcast signal through a broadcast network,

wherein the service signaling information includes User Service Bundle Description (USBD), the USBD providing references to other service signaling information required to access the broadcast service and the service components.

23. The apparatus of claim 22,

wherein the service list table or the USBD further includes capability information, the capability information describing at least one capability required to present the broadcast service meaningfully,

wherein the at least one capability is described by a pre-determined capability code or a pre-determined capability category code indicating a category of a capability.

24. The apparatus of claim 22,

wherein when the service signaling information of the broadcast service is delivered by using an MPEG Media Transport (MMT) Protocol,

the service signaling information further includes a first MMT signaling message providing acquisition information for the service components of the broadcast service.

25. The apparatus of claim 24,

wherein the service signaling information further includes a second MMT signaling message including caption information about the broadcast service,

wherein the caption information includes language information indicating language of caption of the broadcast service, aspect ratio information specifying aspect ratio of the caption, easy reader information indicating whether the caption is an easy-reader caption, and 3-Dimensional (3D) support information indicating whether the caption supports for 3D video.

26. The apparatus of claim 25,

wherein the second MMT signaling message further includes 3D related information about service components of the broadcast service,

wherein the 3D related information includes minimum disparity information specifying minimum disparity between pictures of views, and maximum disparity information specifying maximum disparity between the pictures of the views.

27. The apparatus of claim 25,

wherein the USBD includes component information about the service components of the broadcast service,

wherein the component information includes component type information indicating a type of a corresponding service component, and component role information indicating a role of the corresponding service component based on the type of the corresponding service component,

wherein the component role information indicates whether an audio or video component of the broadcast service is for hearing-impaired or visually-impaired.

28. The apparatus of claim 23, wherein when the service signaling information of the broadcast service is delivered by using a Real-Time Object Delivery over Unidirectional Transport (ROUTE) Protocol,

the USBD further includes information referencing an Media Presentation Description (MPD) which includes description about media presentation of the broadcast service,
