COMBINED FLOORMAT AND BODY-WORN PHYSIOLOGICAL SENSORS

1. A system for measuring a blood pressure value from a patient, comprising:
- a floormat system comprising;
a base comprising a bottom surface configured to rest on or near a substantially horizontal surface, and a top surface configured to receive at least one of the patient'"'"'s feet;
a pressure-delivery system connected to the base through a tubular component and comprising a flexible member configured to apply pressure to a portion of at least one of the patient'"'"'s arms, and a pressure sensor configured to measure a first set of signals representative of pressure applied to the portion of at least one of the patient'"'"'s arms; and
a processing system in electrical contact with the pressure sensor and configured to;
1) receive the first set of signals from the pressure-delivery system and convert them into a set of pressure values; and
2) collectively analyze the set of pressure values and the set of pulsatile signals to determine a blood pressure calibration; and
a body-worn sensor comprising;
a first sensor for measuring a first time-dependent physiological waveform from the patient and then processing the first time-dependent waveform to determine a first fiducial point;
a second sensor for measuring a second time-dependent physiological waveform from the patient and then processing the second time-dependent waveform to determine a second fiducial point;
a processing system configured to receive the blood pressure calibration and process the first and second fiducial point to determine a transit time, and further configured to process the transit time and the blood pressure calibration to determine a blood pressure value.

The invention provides systems for measuring blood pressure and stroke volume values from a patient. Both systems feature a floormat system and a body-worn sensor working in concert. In aspects, the floormat generates calibrations for both blood pressure and stroke volume measurements. It features a base having a bottom surface configured to rest on or near a substantially horizontal surface, and a top surface configured to receive at least one of the patient'"'"'s feet. Within the floormat are weight and blood pressure-measuring systems that determine, respectively, the calibrations for stroke volume and blood pressure. Its transmits these parameters to the body-worn sensor, which further processes them, along with other signals, to determine real-time values of blood pressure and stroke volume.
