Abstract

An arterial anchor device operably coupled by graft material to form an anastomotic connector is provided. The arterial anchor device comprises a generally tubular main body including a distal end and a proximal end, the distal end defining a plurality of flanges integrally formed with the tubular main body and being movable from a first loaded position to a second expanded position. The arterial anchor device is fluidly connected by a graft to form an anastomotic connector.

Claims

1. An arterial anchor device for use in an anastomotic connector comprising:

a generally tubular main body comprising a metal frame-like structure comprising a plurality of struts and connectors and including a distal end, a mid-portion, and a proximal end; and

a plurality of flanges integrally formed with the main body at a distal end thereof, said flanges movable between a loaded position and an expanded position,

wherein said distal end comprises a variable cutting pattern such that the struts and connectors at the distal end are closer together than the struts and connectors at the mid-portion and proximal end.

2. The arterial anchor device of claim 1 further comprising a graft material having a reinforced wall.

3. The arterial anchor device of claim 1 wherein the proximal end of said arterial anchor device has an outer diameter that is larger than or equal to an outer diameter at said distal end.

4. The arterial anchor device of claim 1 wherein said plurality of flanges are circumferentially disposed about the distal end.

5. The arterial anchor device of claim 1 wherein said flanges are configured to expand upon deployment to form an angle equal to or less than 90 degrees offset from a longitudinal axis of the tubular main body.

6. The arterial anchor device of claim 1 wherein said tubular main body is configured to bend at an angle of approximately 90 degrees at an interface between said distal end and said mid-portion.

7. The arterial anchor device of claim 1 wherein said arterial anchor device include a plurality of tines at the proximal end thereof.

8. The arterial anchor device of claim 7 wherein said tines extend outwardly from the main body lumen at an acute angle from a longitudinal axis of the tubular main body.

9. The arterial anchor device of claim 8 wherein said tines exert a compressive force on a graft material disposed over the proximal end of said device.

10. The arterial anchor device of claim 1 wherein said arterial anchor device is formed from a shape memory material.

11. The arterial anchor device of claim 1 wherein said arterial anchor device is coated with a fluid impermeable material.

12. The arterial anchor device of claim 11 wherein said fluid impermeable material is PTFE.

13. The arterial anchor device of claim 11 wherein said fluid impermeable material is deposited on said arterial anchor device by electrospinning.

14. The arterial anchor device of claim 11 wherein said fluid impermeable material is deposited on said arterial anchor device by extrusion.

15. The arterial anchor device of claim 11 wherein said fluid impermeable material is woven.

16. The arterial anchor device of claim 11 wherein said fluid impermeable material is a polymeric material.

17. The arterial anchor device of claim 2 wherein an internal diameter of the graft is equal to or smaller than the outer diameter of the proximal end of said arterial anchor device.
