1. A computerized method for providing customized entertainment content comprising:
- providing a first digitally encoded program for transmission to a set of subscribers;
causing a pause in transmission of the first digitally encoded program to permit transmission of at least a second digitally encoded program to at least a first subscriber from the set of subscribers;
selecting the second digitally encoded program from a set of digitally encoded programs in response to data indicative of a preference in programming by said first subscriber; and
providing, during the pause in transmission of the first digitally encoded program, the second digitally encoded program for transmission to the first subscriber.

18. A computerized method for providing customized video of a sports game competition in which users form imaginary teams from among actual players in a sports league and score points according to the actual performance of their selected actual players, comprising:

retrieving from a user database, player information indicative of actual players selected by a first user; selecting at least a subset of the actual players selected by the first user, identifying for each player of the subset, at least a first segment of video footage showing play of the players to generate a set of identified video segments; ordering the set of identified video segments in accordance with a defined set of ordering criteria; and upon request, causing transmission of the identified video segments in accordance with the defined set of ordering criteria. - View Dependent Claims (19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25)
