Abstract

According to one embodiment, a sensor-equipped display device includes a first substrate includes a first electrode located in a display area in which an image is displayed, a second substrate includes a second electrode which is located in the display area, and outputs a sensor signal, and a flexible substrate includes a first connection portion connected to the first substrate and a second connection portion connected to the second substrate, the flexible substrate includes a common base layer extending between the first connection portion and the second connection portion.

Claims

1. A sensor-equipped display device comprising:

a first substrate comprising a first electrode located in a display area in which an image is displayed;

a second substrate comprising a second electrode which is located in the display area, and outputs a sensor signal; and

a flexible substrate comprising a first connection portion connected to the first substrate and a second connection portion connected to the second substrate, the flexible substrate comprising a common base layer extending between the first connection portion and the second connection portion.

2. The sensor-equipped display device of claim 1, further comprising a driving IC chip mounted on the first substrate, wherein

the flexible substrate does not overlap the driving IC chip in planar view between the first connection portion and the second connection portion.

3. The sensor-equipped display device of claim 1, further comprising a driving IC chip mounted on the first substrate, wherein

the flexible substrate overlaps the driving IC chip in planar view between the first connection portion and the second connection portion.

4. The sensor-equipped display device of claim 1, wherein:

the flexible substrate further comprises a conductive layer located on the base layer on a side opposed to the first substrate, and a cover layer which covers the conductive layer; and

the cover layer includes an opening which exposes the conductive layer from one end to the other end of the flexible substrate in the first connection portion.

5. The sensor-equipped display device of claim 4, wherein the first substrate further comprises a first terminal connected to the conductive layer which is exposed from the opening, and does not comprise a conductive line in an area opposed to the opening in planar view.

The sensor-equipped display device of claim 4, wherein the first substrate further comprises a first terminal connected to the conductive layer which is exposed from the opening, a peripheral line which is aligned with the first terminal, and an insulating film which covers the peripheral line in an area opposed to the opening.

7. The sensor-equipped display device of claim 1, wherein:

the flexible substrate further comprises a conductive layer located on the base layer on a side opposed to the first substrate, and a cover layer which covers the conductive layer;

the conductive layer comprises a first conductive layer connected to the first substrate in the first connection portion, and a second conductive layer extending from the second connection portion to the first connection portion; and

the cover layer covers the second conductive layer, and includes an opening which exposes the first conductive layer.

The sensor-equipped display device of claim 7, wherein the flexible substrate further comprises an auxiliary cover layer on the base layer on an opposite side of the side on which the conductive layer is located, and the auxiliary cover layer is provided at a position which overlaps the opening of the cover layer.

9. The sensor-equipped display device of claim 8, wherein the auxiliary cover layer has a thickness equal to a thickness of the cover layer.

10. The sensor-equipped display device of claim 7, further comprising a conductive adhesive layer which is located at the opening, and connects the first conductive layer and the first substrate;

and

the conductive adhesive layer does not overlap the cover layer.

11. The sensor-equipped display device of claim 1, wherein the second electrode is located on the second substrate on an opposite side of a side opposed to the first substrate.

12. The sensor-equipped display device of claim 1, wherein:

the second substrate further comprises a second terminal which is located on a same surface as a surface on which the second electrode is located, and is electrically connected to the second electrode;

the flexible substrate further comprises a third conductive layer which is located on the base layer, on a side opposed to the second substrate, and extends to the second connection portion; and

the third conductive layer is electrically connected to the second terminal.

13. The sensor-equipped display device of claim 12, wherein the first substrate comprises a first area opposed to the second substrate, a second area not opposed to the second substrate, and a first terminal located in the second area and electrically connected to the first connection portion.

14. The sensor-equipped display device of claim 13, wherein the third conductive layer extends to the first connection portion, and is electrically connected to the first terminal.

15. The sensor-equipped display device of claim 1, further comprising a driving IC chip mounted on the first substrate, wherein

in the driving IC chip, a detection circuit which reads the sensor signal output from the second electrode is incorporated.

16. The sensor-equipped display device of claim 12, wherein the third conductive layer extends to a position different from the first connection portion, and is separated from the first substrate.

17. The sensor-equipped display device of claim 1, wherein the first electrode and the second electrode cross each other in planar view.

18. The sensor-equipped display device of claim 1, wherein:

the flexible substrate further comprises a conductive layer located on the base layer on a side opposed to the first substrate, and a cover layer which covers the conductive layer;

the conductive layer comprises a first conductive layer connected to the first substrate in the first connection portion;

the first conductive layer extends in a second direction;

the cover layer includes an opening which exposes the first conductive layer in the first connection portion; and

in the first connection portion, a portion of the cover layer and the opening are arranged in a first direction intersecting the second direction.

19. A sensor-equipped display device comprising:

a first substrate;

a second substrate comprising a second terminal for outputting a sensor signal; and

a flexible substrate comprising a first connection portion connected to the first substrate and a second connection portion connected to the second substrate, the flexible substrate comprising a common base layer extending between the first connection portion and the second connection portion.
