Abstract

A video server is configured to provide streaming video to players of computer games over a computing network. The video server can provided video of different games to different players simultaneously. This is accomplished by rendering several video streams in parallel using a single GPU. The output of the GPU is provided to graphics processing pipelines that are each associated with a specific client/player and are dynamically allocated as needed. A client qualifier may be used to assure that only clients capable of presenting the streaming video to a player at a minimum level of quality receive the video stream.

Claims

1. A streaming video service system, comprising:

a video source configured to provide video data;

a video server system configured to receive an input from a client system of a user requesting streaming of a video to a television of the user, the video server system configured to process the received input to identify the user and to identify the video requested;

a client qualifier configured to verify that the user is authorized to receive streaming of the video, the video server system configured to stream the video to the client system of the user for display on the television of the user upon verifying authorization of the user to receive streaming of the video; and

an advertisement source configured to provide data for an advertisement to the video server system, the advertisement including displayable content, the advertisement having at least a lower level of functionality and a higher level of functionality, the video server system configured to transmit the advertisement to the client system of the user for display on the television of the user with the lower level of functionality of the advertisement enabled and with the higher level of functionality of the advertisement disabled, the advertisement including logic configured to enable the higher level of functionality of the advertisement after the advertisement is received at the client system of the user.
