- receiving, by a plurality of circuits of a waveguide system, a first electromagnetic wave at a first interface of a first transmission medium, wherein the first electromagnetic wave substantially has a non-fundamental wave mode, wherein the first electromagnetic wave propagates along the first transmission medium without requiring an electrical return path, and wherein each circuit receives an instance of a first plurality of instances of the first electromagnetic wave; and
generating, by plurality of circuits, a signal according to the first plurality of instances of the first electromagnetic wave.
