Abstract

Described herein is a system for remote monitoring of non-critically ill hospitalized patients. The system can include a graphical user interface displaying a representation of the patient census. Each patient is represented by a graphic showing a clinical status, with an underlying expanded view of various parameters. The system can also include a non-transitory memory storing computer executable instructions and a processor configured to execute the computer executable instructions. Upon execution, the computer executable instructions can at least: receive a data stream associated with a non-critically ill hospitalized patient; determine a risk score associated with the non-critically ill hospitalized patient based on data associated with the alarm notification, wherein the risk score represents a probability of the non-critically ill hospitalized patient developing an actionable clinical event; and rearrange the plurality of graphical representations on the GUI based on the risk score.

Claims

1. A system comprising:

a graphical user interface displaying a plurality of graphical representations, each displaying a clinical status corresponding to a unique non-critically ill hospitalized patient, wherein each graphical representation is expandable to a detailed view comprising parameters corresponding to the clinical status;

a non-transitory memory storing computer executable instructions; and

a processor coupled to the memory and configured to execute the computer executable instructions to at least;

receive a data stream associated with a non-critically ill hospitalized patient;

determine a risk score associated with the non-critically ill hospitalized patient based on data associated with the alarm notification, wherein the risk score represents a probability of the non-critically ill hospitalized patient developing an actionable clinical event; and

rearrange the plurality of graphical representations on the GUI based on the risk score,

wherein the risk score is related to the clinical status of the non-critically ill hospitalized patient.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the data stream is associated with an alarm, and

wherein the risk score indicates whether the alarm is actionable or not actionable.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the processor quantifies a responsiveness of the monitoring technician based on a time to view the detailed view of the parameters triggering the risk score.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the detailed view comprises real-time ECG waveform data, stored alarmed ECG data, bedside monitoring vendor alarms history, trended vitals data, and a communication link to a bedside clinical provider.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein each graphical representation is linked to an electronic medical record (EMR) of the corresponding unique non-critically ill hospitalized patient to provide direct paperless documentation of any change in clinical status and a corresponding individual notified.

The system of claim 1, wherein the data stream comprises at least two vital signs associated with the at least one of the unique non-critically ill hospitalized patients and an alarm triggered by a monitoring device associated with the at least one of the unique non-critically ill hospitalized patients.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein the risk score is determined based on a sum of a monitoring indication risk score, a vitals trending risk score based on the at least two vital signs, and an alarms input risk score based on an alarm associated with the data stream.

8. The system of claim 7, wherein the monitoring indication risk score is derived based on a clinical event rate for a given monitoring indication.

9. The system of claim 7, wherein the vitals trending risk score is based on trends associated with the at least two vital signs.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the trends are determined based on summing scaled differences between the at least two vital signs and moving averages of the at least two vital signs over a time period scaled.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein the scaled differences are scaled by a constant specific to each of the at least two vital signs.

12. The system of claim 9, wherein the at least two vital signs comprise at least two of a systolic blood pressure, a diastolic blood pressure, a heart rate, a heart rhythm, a pulse oximetry, a respiratory rate, an oxygen saturation, motion data, and an intracranial pressure.

13. The system of claim 7, wherein the alarms input risk score is based on a value assigned to the alarm based on a vendor of the monitoring device.

14. The system of claim 1, wherein the graphical representation corresponding to the non-critical hospital patient further undergoes a visual change comprising a color change or an oscillatory motion.

15. A method comprising:

displaying, on a graphical user interface device by a system comprising a processor, a plurality of graphical representations, each graphical representation corresponding to a clinical status of a unique non-critically ill hospitalized patient;

receiving, by the system, a data stream related to a non-critically ill hospitalized patient;

determining, by the system, a risk score for the non-critically ill hospitalized patient based on data derived from the data stream, wherein the risk score represents a probability of the non-critically ill hospitalized patient developing an actionable clinical event; and

rearranging, by the system, the display of the plurality of graphical representations on the graphical user interface based on the risk score for the non-critically ill hospitalized patient.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the rearranged display triggers a monitoring technician to view a detailed view of parameters triggering the risk score.

17. The method of claim 15, further comprising quantifying a responsiveness of the monitoring technician based on a time to view the detailed view of the parameters triggering the risk score.

18. The method of claim 15, wherein the data stream is related to an alarm,

further comprising:

nullifying, by the system, the alarm based on the risk score; and

rearranging, by the system, the display of the plurality of graphical representations based on the nullified alarm.

19. The method of claim 15, wherein the detailed view comprises real-time ECG waveform data, stored alarmed ECG data, bedside monitoring vendor alarms history, trended vitals data, a communication link to an assigned nurse, and emergency response team contacts,

20. The method of claim 15, wherein each graphical representation is linked to an electronic medical record (EMR) of the corresponding non-critically ill hospitalized patient to provide direct paperless documentation of any change in clinical status and a corresponding individual notified.

21. The method of claim 15, wherein the data stream comprises at least two vital signs associated with the non-critically ill hospitalized patient and an alarm triggered by a monitoring device associated with the non-critically ill hospitalized patient.

22. The method of claim 21, wherein the determining the risk score comprises summing a monitoring indication risk score based on an event rate for a given medical indication, a vitals trending risk score based on the at least two vital signs, and an alarms input risk score based on a value assigned to an alarm indicated by the data stream, wherein the alarms input risk score is based on a vendor of the monitoring device.
