Abstract

An image forming apparatus includes a detection unit configured to detect an object, a reception unit configured to receive an operation of a user, and a shifting unit configured to shift, if the detection unit detects an object, a power state of the image forming apparatus from a first power state to a second power state different from the first power state, and shift, if the reception unit receives an operation of a user, the power state of the image forming apparatus from the second power state to the first power state.

Claims

1. An information processing apparatus capable of having at least a first power state and a second power state, power being supplied to a device of the information processing apparatus in the first power state, power supply to the device being stopped in the second power state, comprising:

a human sensor;

a user interface; and

a power controller which shifts the information processing apparatus from the second power state to the first power state based on the human sensor having detected a human, and shifts the information processing apparatus, from the second power state to the first power state or from the first power state to the second power state, based on the user interface having received a user operation,

wherein the power controller disables the user operation received by the user interface during at least a predetermined period after the human sensor having detected a human.

2. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the power controller disables the user operation received by the user interface during at least the predetermined period after the human sensor having detected a human before the information processing apparatus being to be shifted from the second power state to the first power state based on the human sensor having detected a human.

3. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the power controller outputs a signal for shifting the information processing apparatus from the second power state to the first power state based on the human sensor having detected a human, and

wherein the power controller disables the user operation received by the user interface during at least the predetermined period after the power controller has output the signal.

4. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the power controller outputs a signal for shifting the information processing apparatus from the second power state to the first power state based on the human sensor having detected a human, and

wherein the power controller disables the user operation received by the user interface during at least the predetermined period after the power controller has output the signal before the information processing apparatus being to be shifted from the second power state to the first power state based on the signal.

5. The information processing apparatus according to claim 3, further comprising:

a power supply unit which outputs power to the device; and

a switch which is arranged between the power supply unit and the device,

wherein the switch is turned on in accordance with the signal.

6. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:

a printer which prints an image on a sheet.

7. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the human sensor is a pyroelectric sensor.

8. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the human sensor is an infrared ray array sensor.

9. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the device is a display.

10. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a display, wherein the device is a backlight of the display.

11. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the user interface is a button.

12. An information processing apparatus capable of having at least a first power state and a second power state, power being supplied to a device of the information processing apparatus in the first power state, power supply to the device being stopped in the second power state, comprising:

a human sensor;

a user interface; and

a power controller which shifts the information processing apparatus from the second power state to the first power state based on the human sensor having detected a human, and shifts the information processing apparatus, from the second power state to the first power state or from the first power state to the second power state, based on the user interface having received a user operation,

wherein, after the human sensor having detected a human, the power controller disables the user operation received by the user interface temporarily.

The information processing apparatus according to claim 12, wherein the power controller disables the user operation received by the user interface temporarily, after the human sensor having detected a human before the information processing apparatus being to be shifted from the second power state to the first power state based on the human sensor having detected a human.

14. The information processing apparatus according to claim 12, wherein the power controller outputs a signal for shifting the information processing apparatus from the second power state to the first power state based on the human sensor having detected a human, and

wherein the power controller disables the user operation received by the user interface temporarily, after the power controller has output the signal.

15. The information processing apparatus according to claim 12, wherein the power controller outputs a signal for shifting the information processing apparatus from the second power state to the first power state based on the human sensor having detected a human, and

wherein the power controller disables the user operation received by the user interface temporarily, after the power controller has output the signal before the information processing apparatus being to be shifted from the second power state to the first power state based on the signal.

16. The information processing apparatus according to claim 14, further comprising:

a power supply unit which outputs power to the device; and

a switch which is arranged between the power supply unit and the device,

wherein the switch is turned on in accordance with the signal.

17. The information processing apparatus according to claim 12, further comprising a printer which prints an image on a sheet.

18. The information processing apparatus according to claim 12, wherein the human sensor is a pyroelectric sensor.

19. The information processing apparatus according to claim 12, wherein the human sensor is an infrared ray array sensor.

20. The information processing apparatus according to claim 12, wherein the device is a display.

21. The information processing apparatus according to claim 12, further comprising a display, wherein the device is a backlight of the display.

22. The information processing apparatus according to claim 12, wherein the user interface is a button.

23. An information processing apparatus capable of having at least a first power state and a second power state, power being supplied to a device of the information processing apparatus in the first power state, power supply to the device being stopped in the second power state, comprising:

a human sensor;

a user interface; and

a power controller which shifts the information processing apparatus from the second power state to the first power state based on the human sensor having detected a human, and shifts the information processing apparatus, from the second power state to the first power state or from the first power state to the second power state, based on the user interface having received a user operation;

wherein the power controller disables the user operation received by the user interface based on the human sensor having detected a human.

24. The information processing apparatus according to claim 23, wherein the power controller cancels disabling the user operation received by the user interface after the information processing apparatus has been shifted from the second power state to the first power state.

25. The information processing apparatus according to claim 23, wherein the power controller outputs a signal for shifting the information processing apparatus from the second power state to the first power state based on the human sensor having detected a human, and

wherein the power controller cancels disabling the user operation received by the user interface after the power controller has output the signal.

26. The information processing apparatus according to claim 24, further comprising:

a power supply unit which outputs power to the device; and

a switch which is arranged between the power supply unit and the device;

wherein the switch is turned on in accordance with the signal.

27. The information processing apparatus according to claim 23, further comprising a printer which prints an image on a sheet.

28. The information processing apparatus according to claim 23, wherein the human sensor is a pyroelectric sensor.

29. The information processing apparatus according to claim 23, wherein the human sensor is an infrared ray array sensor.

30. The information processing apparatus according to claim 23, wherein the device is a display.

31. The information processing apparatus according to claim 23, further comprising a display, wherein the device is a backlight of the display.

32. The information processing apparatus according to claim 23, wherein the user interface is a button.
