NOTIFYING A USER OF EVENTS IN A COMPUTING DEVICE
First Claim
1. A method performed by one or more processors of a mobile computing device, comprising:
- receiving a first user preference for a first type of event and a second user preference for a second type of event, wherein the first type of event is one of a text message and an email and the second type of event is the other of the text message and the email;
detecting an event comprising reception of the first type of event or the second type of event;
presenting, along an edge of a touch-sensitive display of the mobile computing device, a banner alert in response to detecting the first type of event;
presenting, on the touch-sensitive display of the mobile computing device, a pop-up notification in response to detecting the second type of event, wherein the pop-up notification is of a different notification type than the banner alert; and
dismissing the banner alert based on a user swiping the banner alert off the touch-sensitive display.
