Abstract

A method of identifying mobile computing devices includes sending a request from a first mobile computing device to a second mobile computing device for the location of the second mobile computing device, and receiving the location of the second mobile computing device at the first mobile computing device. The method further includes providing a notification to one of the first and second mobile computing devices based upon the location of the second mobile computing device.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

capturing at least one first image by a camera of a first mobile device;

sending the at least one first image from the first mobile device, wherein the at least one first image will be received by a second mobile device;

determining that the first mobile device is within a predetermined distance of the second mobile device;

in response to the determining that a first mobile device is within the predetermined distance of the second mobile device;

receiving, at the first mobile device, a notification comprising data regarding the second mobile device for use in displaying at least one second image, and

displaying the notification to a user of the first mobile device on a display of the first mobile device, wherein the displayed notification displays the at least one second image based on the received data;

receiving input, from the user of the first mobile device, selecting the at least one second image, wherein the selecting indicates that the user of the first mobile device desires to contact a user of the second mobile device; and

based at least on the at least one second image being selected;

sending a permission status indicating whether or not the second mobile device has been granted permission to receive communications from the user of the first mobile device, and

providing the user of the first mobile device options to contact the second mobile device.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the options to contact the second mobile device comprise at least one of:

message;

text message;

email;

a call;

video conferencing; and

graphics.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the first mobile device is denied information regarding the second mobile device based on the first mobile device being denied permission to received information regarding the second mobile.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the user of the first mobile device identifies at least one time period in which the determination step is to be performed.

5. The method of claim 1, the method further comprising:

receiving, at the first mobile device, an availability status indication of the second mobile device based on an availability status selection of the user of the second mobile device.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the user of the first mobile device is temporarily denied information about the second mobile device based on an availability status selection of the user of the second mobile device.

7. The method of claim 1, the method further comprising:

receiving, at the first mobile device, directions to a location of the second mobile device.

8. A first mobile device comprising:

a camera configured to capture at least one first image;

one or more processor configured to send the at least one first image from the first mobile device, wherein the at least one first image will be received by a second mobile device;

in response to a determination that the first mobile device is a within a predetermined distance of the second mobile device the one or more processor is further configured to;

receive a notification comprising data regarding the second mobile device for use in displaying at least one second image, and

display the notification to a user of the first mobile device, wherein the displayed notification displays the at least one second image based on the received data;

the one or more processor is further configured to receive input from the user of the first mobile device, wherein the input selects the at least one second image, and wherein the selection indicates that the user of the first mobile device desires to contact a user of the second mobile device; and

based at least on the at least one second image being selected, the one or more processor further is further configured to;

send a permission status indicating whether or not the second mobile device has been granted permission to receive communications from the user of the first mobile device, and

provide the user of the first mobile device options to contact the second mobile Device.

9. The first mobile device of claim 8, wherein the options to contact the second mobile device comprise at least one of:

message;

text message;

email;

a call;

video conferencing; and

graphics.

10. The first mobile device of claim 8, wherein the first mobile device is denied information regarding the second mobile device based on the first mobile device being denied permission to received information regarding the second mobile.

11. The first mobile device of claim 8, wherein the user of the first mobile device identifies at least one time period in which the determination step is to be performed.

12. The first mobile device of claim 8, wherein the user of the first mobile device receives an availability status indication of the second mobile device based on an availability status selection of the user of the second mobile device.

13. The first mobile device of claim 8, wherein the user of the first mobile device is temporarily denied information about the second mobile device based on an availability status selection of the user of the second mobile device.

14. The first mobile device of claim 8, wherein the first mobile device is configured to receive directions to a location of the second mobile device.

15. A system comprising:

means for capturing at least one first image by a camera of a first mobile device;

means for sending the at least one first image from the first mobile device, wherein the at least one first image will be received by a second mobile device;

means for determining that the first mobile device is a within a predetermined distance of the second mobile device;

in response to the determining that the first mobile device is within the predetermined distance of the second mobile device;

means for receiving, at the first mobile device, a notification comprising data regarding the second mobile device for use in displaying at least one second image, and

means for displaying the notification to a user of the first mobile device on a display of the first mobile device, wherein the displayed notification displays the at least one second image based on the received data;

means for receiving input, from the user of the first mobile device, selecting the at least one second image, wherein the selecting indicates that the user of the first mobile device desires to contact a user of the second mobile device; and

based at least on the at least one second image being selected;

means for sending a permission status indicating whether or not the second mobile device has been granted permission to receive communications from the user of the first mobile device, and

means for providing the user of the first mobile device options to contact the second mobile device.

16. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having program code recorded thereon, the program code comprising:

code for capturing at least one first image by a camera of a first mobile device;

code for sending the at least one first image from the first mobile device, wherein the at least one first image will be received by a second mobile device;

code for determining that the first mobile device is a within a predetermined distance of the second mobile device;

in response to the determining that the first mobile device is a within the predetermined distance of the second mobile device;

code for receiving, at the first mobile device, a notification comprising data regarding the second mobile device for use in displaying at least one second image, and

code for displaying the notification to a user of the first mobile device on the display of the first mobile device, wherein the displayed notification displays the at least one second image based on the received data;

code for receiving input, from the user of the first mobile device, selecting the at least one second image, wherein the selecting indicates that the user of the first mobile device desires to contact a user of the second mobile device; and

based at least on the at least one second image being selected;

code for sending a permission status indicating whether or not the second mobile device has been granted permission to receive communications from the user of the first mobile device, and

code for providing the user of the first mobile device options to contact the second mobile device.
