Abstract

Methods and systems for premises management are described. A gateway device may be used to manage communication between a security system and an automation device. The gateway device may receive security data from the security system. The security data may indicate an event. An automation rule may be used to cause the automation device to perform an action based on the event.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

establishing, by a gateway device, communication between the gateway device located at a premises and a security system located at the premises;

establishing, by the gateway device, communication between the gateway device and an automation device located at the premises;

receiving, by the gateway device and from the security system, security data;

determining that the security data is indicative of an event;

determining an automation rule associated with the event, wherein the automation rule comprises an action to perform in response to the event; and

causing, based on the automation rule and the determining that the security data is indicative of the event, the automation device to perform the action.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving, by the gateway device and from the automation device, automation data; and

communicating, by the gateway device and based on the automation data, with a component of the security system.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising outputting, by the gateway device, a plurality of user interfaces, wherein the plurality of user interfaces comprise a security interface and a network interface, wherein the security interface is configured to control the security system and access the security data, wherein the network interface is configured to control the automation device and access automation data from the automation device.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

establishing, by the gateway device, communication between the gateway device and a remote server at a location external to the premises; and

managing, by the remote server, at least one of the gateway device and the security system.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

establishing communication between a remote client device located external to the premises and the gateway device; and

exchanging, via the gateway device, communication between the remote client device and one or more of the security system and the automation device, wherein the remote client device accesses, via the gateway device, functions of one or more of the security system or the automation device.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein exchanging, via the gateway device, communication between the remote client device and one or more of the security system and the automation device comprises transmitting, by the gateway device and to the remote client device, automation data and the security data.

7. The method of claim 5, wherein exchanging, via the gateway device, communication between the remote client device and one or more of the security system and the automation device comprises receiving, by the gateway device and from the remote client device, control data for control of one or more of the security system and the automation device.

8. A system comprising:

a security system located at a premises;

an automation device located at the premises; and

a gateway device located at the premises and in communication with the security system and the automation device, wherein the gateway device is configured to;

receive, from the security system, security data,

determine that the security data is indicative of an event,

determine an automation rule associated with the event, wherein the automation rule comprises an action to perform in response to an event, and

cause, based on the automation rule and the determination that the security data is indicative of the event, the automation device to perform the action.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the gateway device is further configured to:

receive, from the automation device, automation data; and

communicate, based on the automation data, with a component of the security system.

10. The system of claim 8, wherein the gateway device is further configured to output a plurality of user interfaces, wherein the plurality of user interfaces comprise a security interface and a network interface, wherein the security interface is configured to control the security system and access the security data, wherein the network interface is configured to control the automation device and access automation data from the automation device.

11. The system of claim 8, further comprising:

a remote server in communication with the gateway device and located at a location external to the premises, wherein the remote server is configured to manage at least one of the gateway device and the security system.

The system of claim 8, wherein the gateway device is in communication with a remote client device located external to the premises, and wherein the gateway device is configured to exchange communication between the remote client device and one or more of the security system and the automation device, and wherein the remote client device is configured to access, via the gateway device, functions of one or more of the security system or the automation device.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the gateway device being configured to exchange communication between the remote client device and one or more of the security system and the automation device comprises the gateway device being configured to transmit, to the remote client device, automation data and the security data.

14. The system of claim 12, wherein the gateway device being configured to exchange communication between the remote client device and one or more of the security system and the automation device comprises the gateway device being configured to receive, from the remote client device, control data for control of one or more of the security system and the automation device.

15. A device comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to;

receive, from a security system located at a premises, security data,

determine that the security data is indicative of an event,

determine an automation rule associated with the event, wherein the automation rule comprises an action to perform in response to an event, and

cause, based on the automation rule and the determination that the security data is indicative of the event, an automation device located at the premise to perform the action.

16. The device of claim 15, wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the device to:

receive, from the automation device, automation data; and

communicate, based on the automation data, with a component of the security system.

17. The device of claim 15, wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the device to output a plurality of user interfaces, wherein the plurality of user interfaces comprise a security interface and a network interface, wherein the security interface is configured to control the security system and access the security data, wherein the network interface is configured to control the automation device and access automation data from the automation device.

18. The device of claim 15, wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the device to establish communication with a remote server at a location external to the premises, and wherein the remote server is configured to manage at least one of the device and the security system.

19. The device of claim 15, wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the device to:

establish communication with a remote client device located external to the premises; and

exchange communication between the remote client device and one or more of the security system and the automation device, wherein the remote client device accesses functions of one or more of the security system or the automation device.

20. The device of claim 19, wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the device to exchange communication between the remote client device and one or more of the security system and the automation device by transmitting to the remote client device, automation data and the security data.
